If Deontay had a draw and a loss and a win in the trilogy I might be interested in a fourth fight. As it stands now I am not really interested. I would like to see him have a tuneup fight and then fight Joshua or Usyk.
Yes 110%. He can't beat fury, but he's still a respectable fighter who could give the fans a lot of excitement.
both AJ and Whyteleafe have spent a career DUCKING Wilder, not convinced he is shot enough for matchroom fighters just yet.
LOL are you serious? Wilder literally ADMITTED he ducked AJ to fight Fury instead. He said that himself!!! AJ didn't duck Wilder. Whyte ducked AJ, he didn't duck Wilder. Wilder said about whyte "king don't take the peasants, kings take kings". So in other words, Wilder didn't want anything to do with AJ or Whyte. Or at least there's far more evidence Wilder has been duckin', not Joshua.
Wilder never admitted to ducking AJ, he said he fought Fury when he could have fought AJ for more money. But 30-70 with AJ would have been more money than 50-50 with a comebacking Fury. Wilder wanted 50-50 with AJ, which Hearn/AJ were not offering. Wilder also didn't want a one-way rematch clause as la Ruiz/Povetkin/Usyk, which he didn't have with Fury. Matchroom wanted Whyte to go the WBC route so he could fight Wilder and if Whyte beat him, Wilder could then be shut out of the title picture while Hearn made AJ-Whyte for undisputed. The American WBC didn't allow Matchroom to get away with this, just as they wouldn't have allowed Ortiz to fight Wilder before he was signed to PBC. There was no good reason for Hearn to make an extremely dangerous fight with Wilder when AJ could sell out football stadiums at home against the likes of Martin/Molina/Breazeale/Takam/Parker/Pulev, especially since AJ was less experienced and Wilder was 4 years older. The optimal strategy for Matchroom was to age Wilder out while AJ builds his experience and to let the fight marinate for a few years a la Mayweather-Pacquiao. In hindsight this was stupid but no one was expecting AJ to get beaten by a 25-1 underdog. Considering the cowardice AJ has shown in the ring compared to Wilder, the narrative that AJ is this warrior and Wilder was scared of him has looked very silly since Ruiz 1 and has only become harder to believe since then.
This is exactly what I've been saying. He thinks he's entitled to only title bouts. Get back in line windmill...you've already be Quixoted..
Of course he wants this. He has been largely exposed. He wants an undeserved large payday. He knows it is risky to fight any ranked contenders at this point. There are a number of fighters ranked much lower that would probably beat Wilder at this point. I don't even think Wilder could beat a guy like Frank Sanchez.
