Before the KO Wilder was outboxed by Szpilka. If he can't land his big punch Wilder is pretty much ****ed against skilled fighters. Sasha Povetkin will most likely outbox him too.

Fury was about six fights in at the time and taking a quantum leap in competition. Wilder is allegedly some sort of a world champion.

Or course, he really isn't, and last night's fight, in which he did indeed take his licks against an undersized heavy who should not be able to reach him, was yet another indication.

Wilder is the king of the fringe contenders. He beats guys of Stivern, Molina, Duhaupas and Szpilka level after tough fights in which both get their licks in. There is as of yet no indication that he is on current Fury's level.

A large part of that was due to being a southpaw and he showed good head movement.

Povetkin doesn't particularly have good defense, he's going to take shots to land his own, but he does have decent power if he can get inside and land, which I believe he can.

Deontay has no other defense than to jump back with his arms held out in front of him.

Wilder fought scared against Szpilka. I imagine he would run from Povetkin. Wilder/Fury would be 50/50. Depends who's glass jaw would fail first. Fury and Wilder aren't very good. They fight in a weak era. Even prime Waldo would knock both out cold.

I couldn't believe some of those cowardly, pawing rights. The announcer team had everything they could do to prevent laughter.

Seems like Wilder has trouble with good head and foot movement.

Povetkin mostly just comes straight at you, a lot like Stiverne. As good as Povetkin is, this is probably a very bad match up for him. Povetkin is good, but I think I favor Wilder by a hair. Especially because Sasha did not impress against Wach.

Fury on the other hand should take Wilder apart 95% of the time. Fury has fantastic movement, which he used to destroy Wlad. In fact, it's probably Fury's primary weapon.

However, Fury's chin is only average, while Wilder's fist is top stuff. We saw Fury wobbling in round 12 with Wlad after a few good hits.

Fury was saved though because Wlad ended up not being able let his hands go basically at all. Whether it was fear, confusion, or loss of timing due to age, I don't know. But Wilder won't do that. Sure, Szpilka's movement really crippled Wilder, but Wilder still kept trying and eventually got through, to devastating results. This is compounded by the fact that Fury is a particularly soft puncher, so Wilder will probably be bolder than he was against Szpilka.

We have to expect Wilder will eventually get a solid shot off on Fury, and I'm not sure Fury will able to take it.
