Remember Wilder saying he had bulked up to 240 pounds for the Povetkin fight. Some people were fooled, and it's clearly turned out to be nonsense.
Wilder weighed in at 219 vs Stiverne and didnt get the knock out. Some blame his hand but i beleive the smaller weight had an effect on that fight and Stiverne was able to come forward despite being hit countless times. Being 6'7 and around 220 is just not a good idea if you have a wide legged stance which he does. I would hit him to the body ,even use pushes like football stiff arms to knock his footing off.If Washington doesnt do this tactic he is not with a decent trainer bc that is exactly what i would have him do.to set up a difficult fight for him.
I think even with poor technique at 220lbs should equate to at the very least a knock down. Wilder seems to generate power more from his fast twitch fibers versus weight transfer with straight form. He doesn't do it consistently enough but when he does punch with good technique its extremely effective for him. I'm curious as to what sort of PSI numbers he's recorded or if he's even done it. After training for several months and improving my technique I was able to consistently hit between 815-835 I'm certain DW can do 850-885.....I wonder where he would top off? I believe I topped at 870 once after doing coke....lol
Bellew weighs as much as this basketballer This isn't a fight. Wilder spars with washington all the time I bet. Look at them sucking each other off with these hand shakes. This fight is just a formality...
I remember that too but this really isn't surprising. Wilder has a frame that you have to work out to keep the muscle on. He's normally 228 lbs so he's actually lost weight. That makes sense considering it's hard to workout with a broken hand.
Good point my trainer mentioned that to me, he said tyson also did over a 1000 but it doesn't necessarily mean I could'nt KO a man quicker than Tyson. You've heard the story before but I've seen guys hit the machine that are 250 lbs of mass and only top off at 775-800 while guys that are 165 may top off at 890-925
Also I think it depends on the machine you use.....I don't believe the machine that was used at the gym measured the pounds per square inch correctly.......I've read that tyson did 1800 but at the gym I used to frequent in NYC he only maxed out just above 1000
Current machines are much better ..you need a solid padded structure to actually measure correct,no little target with no mass is going to actually tell you how hard you hit.
