    Quillin has become the standard for this argument. But even then, Quillin had more options than Wilder for further money and advancement if he ducked that fight. Can anyone think of another example where a fighter has given up his belt to avoid another for even a remotely comparable payday? If Wilder dropped the belt to avoid Povetkin and didn't face Wlad, it would really be unprecedented in boxing history. No real reason to think that would happen.

    would like to see Dustin 'the worm' Nichols start to stalk Wilder ( ala Briggs/Klitschko) demanding a rematch. maybe WBC would allow Pov to be give some step aside money and Nichols could lose 5 pounds and whip the daylights out of Wilder.

    Al Hayman is a sneaky weasel. I see him convince Wilder to vacate the belt and become "Champion Emeritus". Once Povetkin gets demolished by someone else Wilder will come back out of the woodworks and claim his right to the WBC crown.

    Make no mistake. Al Haymon is scared sheetless of Alexander Povetkin and the deep pockets of his managers.
