Reality is, Wilder is a paper champion who won his title from a nobody. Klitschko is a long-standing dominant champion who ruled the division for a decade. Going after Klitschko is obviously far, far, far more lucrative and meaningful. There's a reason why Fury is recognized by The Ring and universally as THE champion, and not Beyonce.

Povetkin, whom you classify as a journeyman has one of the best resumes in the heavyweight division, with more meaningful victories and performances in his first 15 fights than Wilder currently.

And Jennings the janitor had a far easier time with Szpilka than Wilder, who looked pretty bad before getting the KO.
