If we put Wilder as he is today and put him 100 years in the past, he would destroy any opponent put in front of him. Maybe including Dempsey. Who would oppose him? There would be no one.

    I doubt it.

Wilder would be a one trick pony in any era.

I don't think it's true. I don't like Wilder chances against quicker, more skilled opponents on consistent basis. His speed is the thing that gives him such an advantage in this era (of course along with punching power), but he wouldn't be a speedster in the 1920s. I'm also not sure how he'd fare against clinching-heavy opponents like Wills.

83" reach is no joke. And he can take a beating. I think he would probably do well.

He’s proven he has a chin with a fair amount of size and can punch as hard as anybody. That’s enough to make ratings in pretty much any era.

He lacks skills or if he has them he doesn’t use them.
He’s 6’6” with an 83” reach but doesn’t use the jab, his whole strategy seems to be at some point in the proceedings he’ll land the big one.
This approach gives him a problem in any era.

Wouldn't have been many in the 20s able to survive that one trick though.

With the small gloves of the 20s, imagine Wilder landing shots on guys who would be small cruisers and light heavies today? Total massacre.

Bottom line, nobody has ever attained greatness, with just a big punch.

Firpo would break that chinschin and body..... Wilder would do all right but not for long.. Too many deficits.... Compared to most fighters of b that time n modern b fighters as, good as some are , are not very mentally strong n compared to many b earlier eras
