I'm not one to read into mind games too much, although I do believe they can help a little if one fighter ceases mental control over an opponent. I think Tyson Fury unsettled Wladimir Klitschko in the lead up to their fight with his unpredictability for example. I don't know if Fury is making Wilder more dangerous by winding him up, but f.u.c.k. me Wilder has absolutely lost his s.h.i.t. Has anyone seen the videos/interviews from yesterday? He's been shouting like a madman and acting very aggressive towards reporters. It makes for strange viewing I must say and he looks like a d.i.c.k. It may all be irrelevant. Wilder may be more dangerous now and crack Fury with a right hand to end the fight. But one thing is certain; Fury has made Wilder look like a complete idiot.
I've always found wilder interviews a bit false in the sense that he adopts this evangelist preacher persona and finishes his sentences in a strange drawn out half baked proverb . He softens his voice and narrows his eyes as if he's actually telling you something mind blowing. Yesterday we got a glimpse of the real person behind all the b. S. He actually came across as the school bully repeating himself and revelling in his own (delusional) power over radio raheem
He's going on like a d*ckhead, trying to intimidate reporters and people he knows can't fight. Bullyish behaviour. Definitely seems like Fury's shennagians have got him wound up. I used to think Deontay was alright, but gone right off him in the lead up to this fight. Hope he gets sparked.
Shouting at and intimidating reporters is where I say the line is crossed. It's idiotic, bullying behaviour and indeed, may expose insecurities. Wilder is doing nothing for his popularity, that's for sure.
Wilder is always a bit loud and full on, but it's like he's cranked it up a notch as the fight's got close and does seem a bit wound up in his latest videos. I bet that burrito man is glad it wasn't this week he was working with Wilder.
Yes, Wilder definitely had a meltdown at the press conference yesterday. He's probably back to "normal" now though. Whatever happens in the fight, Tyson Fury is an absolute legend. He's the most interesting character in heavyweight boxing I can remember. Love him or hate him. He really is, perhaps since Ali. Certainly Britain has never had a heavyweight who has his persona and confidence and natural ability to engage in out of the ring talk and antics, nevermind going abroad and doing it. And perhaps years from now the British fight fans will look back and wonder why he was so underappreciated in these times.
He is acting like a man that knows he is beaten... Fury whatever people think of him, you have to tip your hat to the man, his like we will probably never see again, genuine fighting man.... Wilder is in a world of trouble...
Wilder strikes me as a guy still working out his public persona. He’s not sure whether he is supposed to be bombastic or humble, surly or engaging. Many fighters feel like they have to play a “character” to sell tickets, but perfecting that can be very difficult. Most are probably better off just being themselves with the volume turned up a bit. Then there’s Fury, who is a chameleon who defies convention. He can be anything he wants depending on the situation (or his mood). He also is very adept at identifying insecurities and exposing them. To get under a guy’s skin you need to understand what makes them tick; it’s not just a case of shouting loudly and insulting people. It may all count for nothing when the bell rings, but Fury has done some good work in getting a mental edge ahead of fight night.
The man is having his biggest fight on the weekend so it doesn't surprise me emotions are crazy right now...but Tyson Fury has got to be the king of mind games! I once saw an interview with Wilder, he was talking about be a dad, caring for a disabled child, life growing up etc and honestly he came across so humble and just a nice guy....but this is fight week baby, he allowed to pop off at journalists and get as angry as he wants...just means more fireworks come Saturday!!!! I mean come on...its Wilder and Fury. Nothing they say or how they act would surprise me lol
Fury looked and acted like a soldier condemned to shooting by firing squad at dawn for cowardice in the face of the enemy. He had that look of dual resignation and emancipation at finally being released from his torment.
Mentally fury as out rattled the rattle snake Wilder by now must feel like an English man in new York Fury as stole the show and will take him into shark infested waters With the south paw stance for the first 7/8 rounds
And then the gas gets turned off and he's on his back, or got the ref ref waving his arms in his face
