I don't like to call any fighter a bum and Wilder actually seems like a decent guy in his interviews but if anyone is impressed with anything other than the punch that knocked out Szpilka than they clearly do not comprehend the sport. Or they haven't been watching it long. The man looked awful for large portions of the fight. Szpilka who was outclassed by Jennings gave Wilder tons of problems and actually took his power quite well until he got overconfident in the 9th round. Wilder has still only fought one legit top ten opponent in his career which is close to 40 fights and he is in his 30s (just barely at 30) but that is a dubious mark to have. There is a reason for it.
Maybe if Wilder actually defended against a heavyweight in the top 20, people would be less inclined to do so.
Hardly the point. Wlad was top dog in the Heavyweight division, and Tyson went to Germany and beat him. Would Wilder have the bottle to attempt such a brazen endeavour, much less succeed at it? He seems to talk about those big fights a lot, only to then take on Molina, Duhaupas and Szpilka-level guys.
So what if he was, Drenlou? Somebody still had to go over to Germany and do the business. Fury had the nerve, and he and his team fought their corner with regard to the foamy ring canvas, the gloves, and Wlad's hand wrapping. Wlad was a 1/5 favourite with the oddsmakers to beat Fury. But people forget that. Also, you do realise that, as of "that night", Golota was 47 going on 48? But I digress: Golota would've quit against that version of Wlad in round 2, spitting out his gumshield in the same disdainful manner of a baby spitting out cold milk.
Do you want a cookie? Or is it better to say and new IBF Heavyweight champ Charles Martin!? Maybe it's easier to say Wlad is a grandpa, idk you tell me!
No need to disingenuous with regard to my initial replies. That's a subconscious tell on your part, that you acknowledge I'm right and you're wrong. :good Maybe it's better for you to say that I'm right -- and that by presenting objective facts and viewpoints and not rising to your obvious trolling, I've proven this to be true. Your obstinacy towards my responses bears this out.
Over confident ? That is someone that hasn't paid any attention to Szpilka during that fight. From the 7th on here knew he was out of energy, he was jumping all around the ring through 5 rounds, was caught quite a few times by straight rights. He was actually really trying to win in the 2nd half, first half his whole purpose was to try and tire DW but he got tired and knew it was his only shot at winning. (By opening up) within a couple of rounds, when trying to catch DW he was ktfo. He wasn't over confident from having success. He went out to win it hoping DW would fade badly but he was the faded fighter
