Wilder would beat eating from a straw if he fought Wlad, and Povetkin. I'm not being harsh in saying that, nor do I want that to happen. But I honestly don't think it would be very good for his long term health fighting those guys back to back.

Honestly, I don't think these fights would go long enough for Wilder to accumulate much damage. He doesn't appear to have the punch resistance to hang in there long with either of them. :-(

If they carried him, perhaps, but I don't see that happening. I think we're talking about a couple of first or second round KOs here.:deal

That's true, but I could see those being Jones/Johnson esque- knockouts, where Wilder might literally be out cold for minutes!

That is also what I think likely to happen. Wilder's lack of punch resistance against tomato cans leads you to believe that when he faces real comp and inevitably gets KOd, it will be brutal.:yep

I have come to realize that one reason i am not a mult-millionaire is that i am not always right in my boxing picks. so....maybe i am wrong about Wilder. he has some attributes. a degree of generalship with timing and patience. some strategy also and can explode suddenly at the right times. with good camps and having been brought along in a manner to build his confidence......he just might be able to beat Wladimir...........in CHECKERS.

Wilder will not fight either because he is a coward and a fraud. Hw will probably vacate the WBC title on some flimsy premise and accept some kind of fraud ttitle like the WBU belt or something. This is why he has been accussing Povetkin of steroids.

He'd lose his ability to make big money fights if he did that, so I find it overwhelmingly unlikely he'd do so. I can't recall any HW in history giving up their only belt to avoid an opponent (plenty have given up one of multiple belts, but not their only one). Add on top of that, either fight would make him many millions of dollars, either would multiply his current net worth by about 10. I don't think anyone, at least not a young guy not facing the end of his career, would give up some much money just to avoid a ko.

What makes me think Wilder will beat Povetkin?

Well, Povetkin was knocked down by a jab. So he's not exactly packing a titanium beard himself. Povetkin is kind of slow on his feet and has not shown the kind of skills needed to handle a tall guy like Wilder. Wilder's hands are pretty quick and he punches hard.

:patsch Nice elucidation.........To beat Povetkin you need to be skilled. By your logic Price, Teper, Wach, could beat Povetkin since he is shorter than they are :huh

Duh. Obviously you need some skill to beat anybody. You mix the skill level with the attributes, and factor in styles of course. I figured that was implied and did not need to be stated explicitly. I think Wilder has enough in his column to beat Povetkin.

Did y'all forget that unification takes precedence over mandates.

Has Chagaev signed a fight yet????

No need to cash out just yet. He can fight Chaggy and claim he's a unified titlist.

Giving him a good chance at a 50/50 split with Wlad

I think Chagaev still has enough left to beat, or at least seriously trouble Wilder. They won't go anywhere near him.
