Just like I said with Tommy Morrison, it's OK if Wilder's never an ATG or the best heavyweight in the world. He entertains, and the "somebody's getting knocked out" nature of his fights is ratings gold because casuals like action and drama. That's a good thing for the division and the sport.

Give fans a knockout puncher who's packing glass themselves and who fights aggressively, and that's all alot of people want out of their Saturday night boxing.

One doesn't have to love the way Deontay's been built up, but love it or hate it, it's been done perfectly. As such, when he finally does get cashed out, it's going to be for a hell of a payday. And, if that allows him to take great care of his daughter, good for Wilder on cashing in.

 

The Crimson Tide played earlier that day for a reason. They would have seriously cut into Wilder's viewers and gate attendees.
