Yeah, he got exposed as being better than I thought.

    Fair play to the dude.

He has crappy fundamentals. We all knew that.

He has fearsome K.O power. We all knew that.

He's a natural athlete. We knew that.

He has heart & balls. Didn't know that before.

He has a chin. Definitely didn't know that.

Good recuperative powers also. Jury was a little out on that, but no longer.

Maybe he can improve a little more. Sure, he's been protected on the way up but now he has Arreola, Stiverine x 2, Washington and Ortiz in recent times and beat all those guys who (like it or not) would be top ten in various divisions.

Imagine if he grew a more effective jab. . .

(also, I gave up betting money on Cubans in world title fights, thank f**k)

You saw the same fight as me. That's why he's got exposed.

Stiverne 2 is worthless - he hadn't had a fight in two years since losing to Wilder the first time - but otherwise I agree. If Wilder had got to this stage 20 fights ago then he'd have a lot more respect now.

The win is the important thing and Wilder is a proven winner.

And, to be honest, it's hard to be "exposed" when he's been thought a bit of a fraud with very limited skill for years. If that fight exposed anything its that he's been over-protected and was more dangerous than most gave him credit for - while at the same time reaffirming the fact that he's not a very skilled fighter and can be outboxed.

Still not a fan though. It'll take a long time to win me over after taking over 30 fights to step in the ring with a live body.

Deontay proved many wrong, he showed his skills are limited (like many already know) but he has the great equaliser in his power.....All credit to Ortiz, had he the stamina to press it in the 8th then he could've got him out of there - but Wilder did what he had to do.

He throws that right hand quickly from angles so he will definitely pose a huge threat to Joshua. AJ isn't as quick with his hands as Ortiz so how that fight will pan out has me very intrigued. Wilder and AJ both have the power to end it fast. Let's see how Anthony gets on against Parker (by no means a foregone conclusion).

It's nice to have a lively heavyweight division again anyway!

Ortiz proved to be less dangerous than expected. First they took down his height and reach by a significant amount - but he still managed to outbox Wilder. Then when he had the golden opportunity to end Deontay - his age showed up, no gastank. They should reveal his true age now.

Wilder survived because of that. Not because of his heart. It was Ortiz age and lack a gastank that Wilder's heart and chin legacy started to grow from.

Now suddenly Wilder's got a heart and a chin.

I see it as it was Ortiz that was old, small and tired.

Wilder is wild as hell but I ain't mad at him. In that ninth round, he waded into Ortiz's ass like a windmill and a tornado. I was like Helllll Naw. lol.

Wilder once again got outboxed and was losing this fight, only the criminal official cards and a few idiots had him up after 9. But then he won by KO against somebody i cant say ive ever even seen knocked down and other big names never really faniced taking on.

I think by now we know what Wilder brings to the table, i predicted a UD win for Wilder i thought he would raise his game because he had raised his level of opposition, show a bit of maturity, show a bit of sense and actually make full use of some of his attributes, mainly the big long reach advantage to keep Ortiz at a safe distance. But he didnt he was just flicking it out all lazy and lame just ready with his right hand ready to pull the trigger.

He has beaten a real threat, he has took a few bombs off a real heavy hitter got wobbled bad and came back (with a mysterious extra 30 seconds that cant be explained) and he impressed me with that and his power just should not be ignored, it is real. But you cant keep giving rounds away with bad technique and literally running to the opposite side of the ring because the next time you may be up against somebody just as good as Ortiz but with a bigger reach, better jab and fast hands. Then how is he going to keep them off him?

He impressed me and didnt impress me at the same time last night.

Yeah, what the hell was that about?!

Ive upgraded Wilder's chin from terrible to Poor now. His Jab was already down for me, but i hopes this opens the eyes of more people. Some idiots got impressed of witnessing Wilder jabbing WBC's sweet 15 Stiverne in the face...

I was a bit impressed by Wilder's straight right hand. Already knew his swings wont have much success against active southpaws. So he needed it badly. Lucky for him found his ticket. I already saw that straight right against Szpilka, but didn't want to give him credit for it because of bias against him. The only opening I saw - he saw aswell. But Ortiz still managed to adapt and turn the tide again after the knockdown, until he got excited and exhausted. Old man blew his load, and no pills for him...

I was not impressed with what people are calling the heart Wilder showed. After the 7th round, Ortiz was totally gassed out. It doesn't take great skill or heart to take out a finished fighter. Also, what was that delayed start to the 8th all about. Wilder is a puncher for sure. That is his ticket to success. He will be dangerous to any fighter because of that power.
