People are gunna say he's probably just saying this stuff to hype a potential fight down the line but I think Deontay is genuinely jealous of AJ. Wilder said in the past the quality of AJ opponents have not been up to scratch but that is a joke, AJ beat Wilder's 34th opponent in 18 fights and he did it in easier fashion. He is gunna be taking on the most proven HW in the division, whilst Deontay is fighting a former college football guy who even he claims isn't ready for this fight. Deontay came out today and said AJ is David Price in the making because this a step too big and his gunna get knocked out by an old man but there is a difference between losing to Thompson and ATG heavyweight in Klitischko. I'm just happy the young man is taking this challenge rather than fighting guys he know he can beat until his 38th fight. Oh did I mention the two are gunna be fighting in front of 90,000 in what is probably the biggest fight in British history. Do you think Wilder is jealous?
He's only saying it to big himself up against Joshua. I do believe that he expects it to be Joshua's hardest fight thus far and that there's a good chance he'll lose, and hopes he will. Of course Wilder understands why he isn't as popular as Joshua, with his choice of opponents and the current lack of interest from the US public. I don't think it's actual jealousy, because otherwise he probably had done much more to get big names in the ring with him.
He also said Gerald Washington isn't ready for him. What a bum to fight someome he knows is a bum. I will be rooting Washington on Feb 25 and have a pint of whiskey standing by if Washington should pull it out ---- then update my list the following day. That said, Joshua busts up Wilder inside of 3 and destroys Wilders jaw
Noone will disagree its AJs biggest test, it would be any ones biggest test in the division to be fair because Wlad is the most proven so that's obvious but to compare him to Price is where I'm like huh? your comparing Wlad to Thompson. I think he is jealous of AJ because of the support he gets in the UK, AJ is the face of boxing in the UK and he's been doing exactly what Wilder has been doing knocking out guys who are not on his level. That probably annoys Wilder but the difference between the two is AJ is stepping up quicker and I do think he has a good chance of losing but Im tired of him fighting the Molina's and Breazeale its boring.
I think AJ vs Wilder is a good fight, if AJ can beat WK I would pick AJ by Ko but Wilder makes it past 3 he actually has a good quick jab when he uses it.
I don't think Wilder is the jealous type. He knows he needs to fight a top 5 HW soon, and AJ makes the most sense. With the right hype and promotion it could be VERY lucrative for the both of them. If (and it's a big if) AJ comes through against Klit, I expect AJ vs Wilder talks to be ramped up.
If AJ is successful against Klitischko especially if he stops him it will be a big fight in the uk off the bat and would also sell out Wembley maybe not 90,000 but at least 60,000.
To be honest mate I think AJ vs Wilder and AJ vs Fury also does 90,000. The 90,000 went like a flash for Wlad. I think they could have done 150,000. I'm amazed at how many people I speak to who don't really follow boxing, but still follow Joshua and try to buy tickets (and pay PPV). Now he's stepping up he'll have the more ardent boxing fans behind him as well.
Yeah your right but i don't think it's sold out in terms of fans though I think loads of ticket businesses bought the tickets and are selling them second hand tryna make a profit. Yeah Wilder vs AJ, AJ vs Fury and AJ vs Haye does crazy numbers too. Only in the UK not in the states Imo. This is exactly the reason why Wilder must be pissed he has one big money fight in AJ and AJ has 3 already lined up if he can get past Vlad.
True, it's hard to tell how much the secondary market is distorting figures. Matchroom and Stubhub are partners after all. Either way we are talking huge money for all those fights. Good point with Haye, and annoyingly that could happen before Wilder or Fury. Although don't get me wrong, if Haye had some good wins at HW I would like to see him against AJ. But if beating Tony Bellew puts him to the front of the queue, I won't be impressed.
Yeah still see tickets online but let matchroom tell it they are sold out. Your right hope AJ doesn't give a Haye a payday off, Gergaj, De Mori and Bellew that has to be the worst run to a title shot.
Sadly it isn't. Look at Briggs' and Oquendo's lineups... The latter doesn't even have one. But true, he shouldn't be in contention for a strap after these 'fights'
To be fair to that match up it's for the regular belt not the real belt. Oquendo has been mandatory for that belt because he won a court case against the WBA, Briggs is there because Browne got popped again. Haye would be getting a shot at the WBA super and IBF belt.
