Agreed even in the rematch Wilder landed one or two right hands pretty clean albeit Fury was moving away from it/rolling with it. I honestly think the first KD fd Wilder up. I think Wilder will be more confident knowing there's nothing to lose after being humiliated the second fight. Wilder is a shite boxer but he will usually land the right hand in some form or another. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Wilder cracks him... That said I think Fury should do the job in brutal fashion again
I genuinely don't think Wilder has any power in anything other than his straight punches ie the right hand and the jab (when he actually remembers he has a left hand).. I don't think Wilder will achieve anything with left/right hooks or body hooks.
Factually wrong. Watch the fight again - watch rounds 1, 2 and up until the first knockdown this time with your eyes open. Fury was paving way for his big punches in round 1 and 2 with solid kronk power jabs. In round 3, Fury is almost landing at will with the jab and right hand. Fury is landing clean punches in round 3 and Wilder looks very vulnerable even before that knockdown. I think you're seeing what you want to see because whatever you are seeing is not reality. Wilder was landing the right hand, in fact I count 3 or 4 right hands that do somewhat land but Fury rolls and moves back with the shot to take the sting off of it. Though this is not to say Wilder couldn't land the right hand in a third fight and KO Fury. Fury was clearly being careful with his offense for the first two rounds.
Completely agree. Regardless of all the bull**** excuses, Wilder was not right in some way in the first fight. If he comes in at 100% this time, fights in the front foot, and throws in some inside work, then it's game on I still pick Fury UD though
I wish I could like the threads too, and not only the comments. I would like to "like" this thread. Tbh, a really good one. As many of you (and bradley) have pointed out, for a fighter like wilder to stay reactive instead of staying active is a death sentence. Imho those of you who have said that are right, and bradley too. He needs to use his jab and movement/faints to be the "active" fighter in the ring. As bradley said there are many ways to attack a fighter, direct and indirect ways. Use them both and let your right hand (after your jab) dictate the path of the fight. Really good thread, I insist. Thank you guys.
Wilder needs to ensure Fury isn't eating "bore guts" again. Bore guts, Mexican beef, what's this sport coming to? LOL
Think the last fight showed us wilder should definitely make shore his ring walk costume doesn't weigh as much this time. But on a serious note wilder needs to move better fury sat right on his toes last time shut him down. Wilder needs that space too whined up the big shots or vastly Improve his inside game.
Stand around pawing out jabs tentatively and overreacting to every one of Fury's feints then try to lunge in with a telegraphed one two. Proceed to get smacked around then look aggrieved when the referee stops the fight in Fury's favour, if he isn't faceplanted Paul Williams style that is.
Underrated comment. To be fair has Wilder ever had a different plan than this? If you told him to stick and move he’d probably buy a two-by-four and sell his house.
Wilder didn't "abandon" his jab. He tore his left bicep, which required surgery to repair after the fight.
Wilder's left bicep was torn in the rematch. He was left trying to throw overhand rights from way back that Fury could see coming. You watch Wilder ... when he lands the right ... he sets it up with the left. The left comes really quick. It's more a blinding shot. They react or get blinded by the left and don't see the right coming a milisecond behind it. His left sets up the right. SO, first thing Wilder has to do, is don't TEAR your left bicep. I thought Wilder claimed he tore the bicep before the fight with Fury. I think it was against Junoir Fa in sparring if my memory serves me correctly. Though Shelly Finkel rubbished the injury later on, though he might simply be covering up the extent of the injury to sell a 3rd fight.
Wilder's sudden awakening to the fact he needs more layers to his game - head movement, a basic 1-2 etc - is generally seen as a positive, and you can't blame him for trying to hone new skills. But it's too little, too late. 40+ fights into his career is way too late to make these changes effective at the highest level. In fact, I could see all this making things worse - fogging up his muscle memory and creating hesitation as a result. Just one warm-up fight to test out Wilder 2.0 would have at least shown him if gym work was transferring to the ring. But no, straight in with the man who beat him up. Brave and foolish in equal measure. And why wait until his first defeat to rip up the blue print? All his deficiencies were clear to see well before Fury took advantage of them. His best bet is to accept letting rounds drift by while looking for the right moment to strike failed him just once. One lost bet in a decade of gambling. He should roll the dice again and look for that 'right hand chance' - he's actually damn good at this and nearly made it stick in the first fight. Different ref, different result. But taking on Fury with a new style - that's gonna end badly...
Wilder just needs to follow instructions, which given how stubborn he is might be impossible. Wilder in the first fight barley listened to his corner and was lucky to walk away with a Draw and in the Rematch completely disregard his team and the World seen the results. Anber and Breland taught Wilder for the most what he needs to be successful. If he’s willing to listen to Malik Wilder has a chance, but if he won’t listen Fury gets another easy win.
