Wilder's only made optional defenses because Povetkin keeps "passing" on the fight because Povetkin needs more time, or Povetkin needs a tuneup or Povetkin causes the postponement of them by failing his drug test. Look for Wilder to make yet ANOTHER optional defense because Povetkin won't be ready in time. He'll never be ready. That's the whole point.
Only Povetkin was ready and it was Wilder who never even made it to Russia for the fight. He turned around and left the UK to head home even before the WBC had made an announcement. To say Povetkin needs a tune up is laughable. Wilder has had 4 of them already which is unprecedented. I am sure Wilder will try and get yet a 5th 'tune up' but I doubt the WBC allows it.
I'm only telling you what's happened before. Povetkin couldn't fight in September 2015 because it was too soon after his ONE ROUND fight in May. Povetkin needed a tuneup first (against Wach). Povekin couldn't fight in January 2016, because it was too soon after his tuneup. Povetkin couldn't fight in May 2016 because he failed a drug test and the fight was postponed. So, expect Povetkin (if he wins) to be unable to fight in March, because it's TOO SOON after the Stiverne fight. Expect him to want to PUSH IT BACK AGAIN ... claiming the summer might be better. Povetkin has caused the postponement of this fight THREE TIMES (in 2015/2016) NOW. What's an even four? Povetkin doesn't want to fight Wilder anyway. That's the whole idea. That fact will eventually sink in to all of you guys at some point. I know it takes a little longer for facts to register with some of you.
Povetkin isn't blameless is this at all. I've always thought many of the things you mentioned were fairly accurate, absurd that he needs so much space between fights. That said, Wilder has is no longer full champ, winner of Pov Stiverne will be interim. The WBC needs to, and hopefully does, enforce that that winner faces Wilder in the next fight for the full belt. If that means they have to meet in the middle for a May or June fight, I can accept that. I can't accept a record 5th consecutive title defense against a non ring top 10 opponent. Wilder would actually be getting into the upper echelons of successful title defenses all time for hws, without having beaten a single highly regarded contender in his defenses. It demeans the sport, and God knows it doesn't need anymore of that. And who knows, maybe Wilder might one day become worthy of high rankings, I give him a decent shot against anyone today. But right now he's barely proven himself at the level of a Chagaev type champ, but somehow has several more defenses
the guys wilder keeps beating are so called cans, but they all go on to have success after wilder beats them . meaning imo that there not all that bad .and i never really thought they were that bad in the first place. they werent the best not top 5 or anything like that. but still worthy contenders. besides kov / ward and a few others the best dont fight eachother. so if u get on wilder just hate the game. it aint wilders fault. expect the same kind of opponent for wilder im not expecting ortiz , aj , haye, wlad, parker or ruiz any ways. so expect hugie fury, wawarzk, g wash, kauffman , or some one along them lines.
