It has more to do with Wilder not hitting the pads correctly than his power. You're supposed to hit the center of the mitts not the edges, since it doesn't help you improve punch accuracy and you also tear up the trainer's hands. All of the gyms I've trained at you'd be lucky to get anyone to hold the pads if you missed the center 2-3 times in a row, since missing the pad and landing directly on the wrist or near the finger tips does a lot of damage to the pad holder. Wilder missing on the pads. This content is protected In the clip above you can see Wilder repeatedly hit the pads directly where Breland's fingers are and Breland winced in pain, but kept going. If Wilder wasn't Breland's meal ticked he would've said something, but held it in. When I used to kickbox and box (never competed) my trainer would lose his sh*t if you missed the target on the pads. If it happened two or three times he'd direct you to the heavybag and never hold pads for you again because in his own words only an idiot can't hit the center of the pads.
Yes, because I'm sure all the people who've trained him have never had experience of fighters (and subsequent management of), who have missed "the target" of the pads before, especially when they're getting paid. Also any particular sequence you're referring to in the clip you posted? All I can see are middleweight tier speed punches coming from a HW. The same punches that David Haye said gave him shooting pains down his spine for a week afterwards.
Trainers, cripples, morbidly obese, the elderly, Las Vegas hookers, Charlie Zelenoff, Mexican Telemundo Sombrero mascots, part-time fighters...but not any world-class fighters that we have yet seen. This is the problem, not something to brag about.
Damn, another one to add: Sombrero Man! His second best. POST SCRIPT: Good call and I "liked" your post, but reports say that the Mexican Telemundo sombrero mascot actually did not have to go to the hospital. That was a lie designed to talk up Wilder's power. He was eating a burrito shortly thereafter. All the same, that was no way to treat the mayor of Tijuana.
The dummy was impressive but I thought he made a bigger statement when he showed the pinata who was boss This content is protected
It would be funny if that stupid Wilder would KO AJ and Fury. He'll be the least skilled undisputed champion ever.
I read an article on it. It does indeed sound like he's not hitting the pads properly. Another was him missing the bloody body body pad. How can a professional boxer miss a body pad? A hard hitting bantamweight could do the same damage if he was missing the bloody pads.
