Wilder is a fool when it comes to the financial side of the sport. Tbf he does deserve credit for staying loyal to his team bit i think he should be looking closely at his team because he should be a way bigger star than he is
I guess he should be content with Al Haymon and being rich in Alabama but, its goddamn Alabama, Im rich by comparison to 90 percent of people that live there. He is the crappiest paid heavyweight of modern history. Has he ever made 8 figures for a fight? He's rich but Fury out paced him and made more in one fight than Wilders combined income since having the belt.
I think that he knows what he's doing. Some make money at the beginning of their careers and some make it later.
No one wanting to make more money turns down his highest paydays...ironically by the guy he's criticizing. whyte for a total of 12 Million / two deals. Anyone of HIS choice for 5 million and in the states...not even made that fighting guys that he picked under his team...lol Joshua for what leveled off at 15 Million with a possible rematch worth 50 Million. Sorry but this guy doesn't know much about making money , in fact I'm really curious what his math grades were bc no pro athlete i ever saw goes about his career making as less as he can....certainly not a HW champion. He even claims he's the real WORLD champion bc he fought all over when in fact he's never defended his belt outside of N.Y and Alabama which means he probably failed geography to ?
Sorry to disappoint you but how a man goes about his business is just that His Business. People thought Mayweather was a fool for leaving Arum. You don't know what his game plan is. You just have to wait until it unfolds. Just because he don't do business the way you think that he should don't mean he's not clicking on all cylinders.
The brutal truth is that DAZN wouldn't make the efforts they did with Canelo to bring Deontay on board. They have the number one HW and in Big Baby they have a big talking US boxer to gradually move closer to a fight with him. Wilder hasn't demonstrated the commercial pull to justify a big offer and Wilder's position may have strengthened with Showtime as they're short of PPV talent and they've already invested a lot in him. He's best off staying with Showtime and hoping they continue to back him as they did with the Fury fight and the AK negotiations.
