Wilder's resume is not THAT bad. Wilder is also a great fighter.

Have to agree. The OP has some points ... but maybe the issue with Wilder is that he holds a belt that a lot of great boxers have battled for over the years. Once upon a time most people in the street knew who the HW champion was, now most sports fans probably don't (or they know of AJ only), and worse still most probably don't care.

There are fights he could make right now that could go towards changing that dynamic, but he's not doing it. If Wlad retires and he makes a fight with Joshua in the next 8 months or so, then maybe he can get a pass. Otherwise, if we are here this time next year, still waiting for him to fight someone top 5, then I don't see how anyone could defend him.

By this time next year Breazeale will be in the top ten and he'll be his mandatory. They already tried to place the seeds of that feud earlier in the year. Its too predictable, this farce.

I should've highlighted the heavyweight division. Middleweight Mayweather is definitely not the comparison I'm looking at for 50 and 0 undisputed heavyweight champion as my gold standard. Rocky Marciano is deemed by many as one of boxings great heavyweight champions with an undefeated record of 49 and 0. Now if you go 50 and 0 and undisputed...well thats a damn good gold standard.

Saying Wilders record isn't that bad doesn't necessarily mean Im saying they're great. Its just not that bad, nothing more, nothing less.

Anyway, all this doesn't matter because I don't think Deontay will reach my personal standard for me to call him great.

32 years old, 1 world class win.

this is the resume of an upcoming 22 year old contender not a 32 year old world champion.

Dominated and outboxer Szpilka? LMAO. Szpilka outboxed him for 9 rounds and was heading to get decision win.

Deontay is indeed a great fighter. Just patiently waiting for his Dvd to come out on amazon. The dvd will show his epic 5 title defences, for the Wbc belt. The bronze bomber already beat Holyfield's record of successful title defenses. What a formidable champion we've been blessed with!

Szpilka was trailing on the cards at the time of the stoppage. He fought to survive and still got carried out the ring on a stretcher.
    Troll harder.

Bought judges.... You have to watch the fight... Wilder spent all fight swinging Windmills and missing... Spzilka made him look amateurish as did Washington...

Wilders personal judges scored it in favor of their fraud, but most of the fans had Szpilka ahead in the scorecards.

Let's face the facts. The Polish soccer hooligan was winning but literally ran into Deontay's fist. The fight with former football player was stopped because Deontay was going to hurt himself. Just look at those windmills in the end, if the fight had continued Deontay would most certainly had knocked himself out.

Two of the judges were Italian , none of them had any affiliation with Wilder.

I watched it. Spzilka only ran all over the ring to make it awkward for Wilder and to avoid getting knocked out. He landed nothing of any substance .
