Why are you so one track minded? I proved that Botha held his own with elite heavyweights, and beat some good ones. Certainly he proved himself against far better competition than Wilder.

Mercer was still a dangerous 41 year old. Certainly in today's era which isn't the greatest Mercer would have been relevant at the time just like Thompson was relevant in his early 40s, like Wlad, Vitali etc. Mercer may have not beat Wilder, but he definitely had the tools to pull the upset off and at the very least would have busted him up pretty good and taken some rounds. Wilder hasn't proved himself elite in his own era, has shown plenty of flaws.. Why couldn't someone who was still tough, fairly durable and still had a good jab spring the upset. O

How the f*ck would Povetkin-Pulev be the Legit Champ? The Fury-Klitschko winner is the legit champ.

Do you know nothing at all? Did you just start watching boxing this year?

And I'm not defending Wilder at all costs ... I'm pointing out how you don't know **** about boxing.

The old Mercer and Botha who Wlad fought wouldn't stand a chance against Wilder ... let alone beat him (LIKE YOU CLAIMED).

Povetkin doesn't have a record that embarrasses Wilder's.

Povetkin is a 37-year-old PED user who won an Olympic medal without ever fighting a guy for that medal and he was a WBA "regular" belt holder without ever beating a reigning champ.

I'm sure he'll willingly sign to fight Duhaupas for another belt. Povetkin's never beaten any reigning champs for their titles. And he's nearly 40. Why should he break the streak now?

But I think Duhaupas, who has come into his own, would crush him at this point.

Povetkin was not only coddled when he was in his prime, now he's a drug cheat as an old fighter trying to hang on to what's left of the career he wasted.

Povetkin gets to hold on for a few more months. Either Duhaupas or Wilder will end his wasted career for him.

A legitimate belt holder in any case, if you want to be so technical, ****, and nitpicky. Of course Fury is the man currently. But Wilder has devalued the WBC belt(which many rate the highest) and made it look like a joke. At the very least it's a fight between 2 top 10 heavyweights which fans rarely get to see these days.

And please dude... You're a Wilder fanboy without a doubt. Why else would you slate the French pastry chef to beat Povetkin....:patsch:lol:

No. I'm just a fan of the heavyweights. And I have been since the 1970s.

You're just spitting out **** you read on this board before. You didn't even come up with "French Pastry Chef." You're just regurgitating other people's comments.

Something tells me you didn't even pay attention to the heavyweights until recently.

And I think Duhaupas would beat Povetkin because I actually watch boxing. Duhaupas knocked out Helenius and Duhaupas fought a tough fight with Wilder, while Povetkin was going 12 with Wach and cycling his pills and pushing back fight dates and taking drugs to try to keep maintain his shape.

Duhaupas is a legit top 10 heavyweight right now. Which you would know if you actually watched the fights you were commenting on. Who knows what Povetkin will look like when he can't take all the pills he wants to maintain his conditioning. He didn't look all that great against Wach, and he was still using them then.

Povetkin's career is about to come to a crashing halt, either way.

And Povetkin deserved a draw at best against Huck. Don't bother trying to talk sense around here, you're wasting your time.

100% true. Was gonna make a similar thread myself to counter some of the exaggerate hate laid on Metal Face Wilder.

Povetkin overall of course has faced a lot of good fighters though.

They're not far off Wilder but I wouldn't say better.

You're an idiot dude...You make assertions and ridiculous claims without even attempting to back them up.

'Duhaupas beats Povetkin!" Why? "Because I watch boxing"

"Duhaupas is a top 10 HW" Why? Because I watch boxing....:patsch

Well.. Apparently no one on here but you knows a thing about boxing but you're the first I've seen claim Duhaupas is a top 10 HW. Can't think of anyone who's claimed he'd beat Povetkin either. Going against the grain for the sake of it doesn't mean you understand the sport, it just makes you a hipster douchebag.

he is facing some decent opposition to be fair.
so can't really knock him. he's stopped some guys during hes title run that have a chin that a steel pole would bend from.

that being said, it doesn't change my mind about him being scared for the top guys. although as a brit, I reckon fury and joshua are also scared of wilder.

AT BEST. But Huck was really battering him at the end.

Povetkin's "reign" - if you can call it that - was a joke.

Here is Povetkin sparring with a 42-year-old Cedric Boswell in August 2011.

Povetkin used Boswell as a sparring partner while preparing for his vacant "regular" title fight ... and then, not surprisingly, Povetkin decided to make his first defense against the easy sparring partner he'd just been knocking around.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-X-y5_esq4

Really stepped out on a limb there ... Povetkin.

I can see why fans on this board CAN'T WAIT for you to hold another title. Your last reign was one for the history books, that's for sure.
