Ninety percent of posters would put Foreman,Liston, and Shavers in the top ten all time for power so I don't know where you are going with this.

It depends on the fighter himself, there were guys 6 foot 7 champions dating back to Jess wilard.

I think all the evidence was with mike Tyson, dudes 5'10ft and regularly beat guys 6'6ft. On top that he had more power than anybody in his era. There's a million and one factors that go into punching power, mass is one of the factors but isn' the only one

I would add that David Haye had already proven, to a lesser extent, that enough power could be delivered from smaller heavyweights, in these modern SHW times.

Wilder is 6'7" tall with an 80+ inch reach. Which heavyweight of the past had these dimensions?!

No one says a power hitter like Foreman or Tyson was too small.

That sub 220 lbs guys can punch is nothing new. Tyson and Foreman was below 220 for some of their most destructive performances, and Shavers was even below 210.

Haye was about 210 lbs when he faced Wlad, and I don't think anyone disputed that he could hurt Wlad. In fact he showed he could. His disadvantage in height and reach was the real impedement, not power.

Wilder would have an advantage rather than disadvantage against Wlad in those areas. That would be the big difference between him and Haye. Not power.

Have you actually sparred? Four inches in height (which Wilder has on Baer) and at least as much in reach makes a big difference. You can struggle with one-dimensional guys that has that advantage on you - guys you would easily handle if they were your size.

And the one thing Wilder does well is the jab and right cross - just the tools that let you utlize an advantage in reach and height.

Baer could definitely hurt anyone if he landed his best shot clean, and would therefore always be in with a chance, but he wouldn't enjoy Wilder's advantage in height and reach or handspeed, and therefore be less likely to land clean shots.

People are acting like Wilder's reach and height aren't massive factors in his so far quite modest success in the big picture, but that's just crazy. Ortiz would have had him for lunch if they had been the same height and had the same reach.

Powerball winners belong to a small group of people, too.

He may be 6''7 but Liston had an 84 inch reach and Foreman 82 inch.

I don't believe for one minute Liston had an 84 inch reach.

It's well documented that he did, and visible in his fights.

It's well documented hey? I also read he had 80" max, i think it's clear to see 84" is grossly exaggerated.
