What if Wilfred had taken care of Palomino, then took on Pipino Cuevas in an effort to unify the titles?
Benitez by decision. As long as he boxes and doesn't try to slug like he did in the early part of the first Curry fight, he'll be fine.
Wilfred was one or two classes above Cueves in quality. I don't see this as being a huge obstacle for him. But this is no knock on Pipino. He turned pro at 13 years of age and accumulated a lot of his early defeats between 13-18.. At around 18 he became a world champion and had several defenses. A very good fighter by all standards.
It would be something like Locche-Fuji, with a lot of big, missed swings by Cuevas bringing the temperature down by 10 degrees. Pipino would be tired, and frustrated...and I would hope that Wilfred would be prudent enough to refrain from trying to punch with Cuevas.
