Duran fought better v Moore than any Welter from today`s game would maybe even Crawford because he`s moved up from such a lightweight to begin with, Duran would have beaten any welter today with only Bud giving him any trouble.

Benitez in his prime was a level above anybody at welterweight

Perhaps, but not one person in history named Spence is beating someone called Benitez.

Great thread. If prime Benitez steps out of a time machine, my money is on him. Crawford would be a great fight. I was a big fan of Benitez so I’m biased but the man could fight.

I love the “Truth” Erroll Spence Jr and Terence “Bud” Crawford but honestly as good as both are and potentially great it’s difficult to see either beat Wilfredo Benitez. What a fighter Benitez was!

Duran lost to Kirkland Laing who'd been beaten by a 9-7-1 dude 7 months earlier. Roberto ain't got nothing in his locker to trouble Bud, Manny, Spence and co.

He had enough in his locker to beat one of the most dangerous fighters of his era, Ray Leonard, those guys would destroy most fighters now, they were killers and faster than today`s fighters on average.

He was inconsistent during his actual career.

You think that was the real SRL in that first fight?

This is what happened when the real SRL turned up. That wasn't even a 25% SRL in the first fight.

SRL made Duran quit like a female dog in the rematch. Made a street kid from the slums of El Chorrillo pull the most infamous and humiliating No Mas in the history of cowardice. The supposed ''great'' Roberto ''Hands of Stone/Heart of a Chicken'' Duran quit like a female dog.
