Wilfred Benitez vs 90's/ 00's

Mosley...Benitez decisions him. Just to much skill and not small enough for Mosley to physically dominate.

Cotto...comfortable decision, possible late stoppage.

Mayweather...Even though Floyd looked a notch below his best at 147 I still think this is a hard fight for Wilfred. Stylistically Floyd wont be easy going and Id actually be inclined to side with Floyd at 140. I think scoring is at a premium here, good chunks of the fight will be close and hard to score but Wilfredo will actually attempt and succeed with the greater offense. WB takes it 8-4.

De la Hoya...Another good fight. But I just think Wilfred does just about everything better here. Pretty clear, though competitive decision in the end for him..Though Im sure at least one judge will be fooled by Hoya's round ending ineffective flurries and score it pretty close, even though it might not be.

Whitaker...50-50..slight edge to Pea IMO.

Trinidad...Wilfred repeats the first 7 rounds of the Hoya fight but does it for longer and more convincingly. I dont see Felix having an answer here.

 

Beats them all:bbb Benitez is without doubt one of the greatest pure boxers i've ever seen, winning 3 genuine world title's at 22 years of age, he was truly incredible, a defensive genious.

Cotto.....................Maurice Hope style exercution
Mayweather............Wins UD, just duz what Floyd can do but BETTER.
De La Hoya.............Humiliates him.
Whitaker.................Pea has met his match here, close UD.
Trinidad..................Hopkins style beating & Winky schooling.

NOW!!!! this all depends on WHAT sort of Benitez shows up??? He was such a lazy ****er, it was all too easy for him & he really was still just a kid who wanted to party & always fighting with his dad when he could'nt be bothered to train, it was all too easy for him.

He's my 3rd favorite of all a time after Duran/JCC & he's the fogotten link as it should be the FAB 5 instead of the FAB 4:smoke

 

Leonard pretty much dominated Benitez past the half-way point of their bout (and was winning prior to that as well). That said, none of the Welters of the 90's through to today would've beaten El Radar.

 

How do you see the Mosley/Floyd fight panning out? I myself think at lightweight he'd have had a top shot just not so sure now at 38yr's of age.

 

I don't think he'd fight anymore conservative against Mosley. Apart from dropping Marquez and attacking him in spots during the fight, mostly the late rounds, he fought as if Marquez had 'Tyson' like power.

I was amazed that Mayweather never took more risks throughout the fight. He was in against a fighter who wasn't a chilling puncher in weight divisions south of 147lbs. Marquez was down against Pacquaio a few times, Barrera, and was wobbled against Diaz. Mayweather had more than enough power to halt Marquez inside the distance. Yet he stood on the outside and out-boxed the much smaller and less powerful man. I honestly thought that Mayweather would have stood his ground, showed more confidence in his own chin, and let more powerful punches off the leesh. Just like he did against Gatti.

It's not as if Mayweather sustained his attacks regularly after dropping Marquez.

 

I agree with you on that scenario, yes Shane's going to be on maximum rev's & he'll catapolt himself right onto Floyd from the off, proberbly a 3/1 punch ratio also & no way does Floyd tie up Shane on the inside as he did with Hatton, Floyd's going to have to move as fast a fiddler crab along those ropes for all 12 i recken.

I agree, they'll definetly be a row over the scorecards, yer can just see it in this one, it would'nt suprise me in the least that one would have Floyd about 4/5 to the good in the S/D a total mixed bag of round scoring from all 3 judges is a cert.

 

Floyd being Floyd now is going for Pac or Cotto, i bet he's praying Pac wins as the Floyd/Cotto fight won't happen either, now Mosley can't fight in Vegas as his licence is suspended so any Floyd fight would have to be at the staples in LA & floyd would **** that off as a hometown job for Shane.

If Cotto gets past Pac then you'll see some subtle pressure applied to Floyd, GBP would proberbly cut Top Rank in on the deal by the back door with regard to keeping cotto out of it so forceing Floyd to retire for good or face Shane as he has no one else to fight out there, not if he expects big HBO $$$$ that is.

 

Wilfred Benitez, at his very best, would have taken the measure of all these guys, and mostly by a decision, with all but the Whitaker and Mayweather fights being rather one sided, in fact, the Trinidad fight would have been a real feather in the cap of El Radar, as Tito would have had no idea as what to do with him, and Oscar would have been made to look inept. Wilfred would have edged out Mosely and Cotto. The fights with Pea and Mayweather would have been chess matches and Bemitez had too much genius even for those two.

 

I see Mosley as a bigger danger than Pacquaio for Mayweather. Agree?
