I thought Cervantes only took about two rounds from Wilfred.

benitez did struggle quite a lot against Emiliano Villa, who was the closest to McGirt in terms of style he fought at the weight.

It was not only McGirt was past his prime in the rematch. He didn't want to lose the Chance for revenge against Whitaker. McGirt fought before his surgically repaired Left Shoulder was completely healed. & is cost him dearly.

Buddy wins. I think Benitez gets overrated.
Leonard missed alot but was well ahead on my card.
    Hearns outboxed him easily.
Curry got robbed the first time. And he had a hard to with Weston even being held to a draw.
I think Buddy has more offensive weapons then Benitez and he showed in the Pea fight he can box with the best.

So Benitez, the man with the better resume/wins between the two... never proved he can box with the best?

And so what if Leonard was ahead?

Buddy got blown out by the homeless man's Leonard.

Never said Benitez couldnt box. Said I thought he was overrated.
Buddy had alot of good wins and Sweet Pea is a great boxer and he gave Sweet Pea all he could handle the first time.
How many rounds did you give Benitez vs Leonard truthfully? It wasnt a close bout in my opinion.
And Hearns won very comfortably vs Benitez.
Palamino fight was very close it wasnt like he dominated Palamino.
I actually think Benitez was at his best at jr.middle.

The Palomino fight was not close. Palomino had his moments, but Benitez won VERY clearly.

I don't think McGirt would have beaten Palomino.

Palamino was a very good fighter but I think Buddy could have gotten by him although it wouldnt have been a walk in the park.
Palamino had his hands full with Green who was VERY limited.

Expect a tactical fight and a lot of missed punches.Benitez by decision in a tactical fight.

I'll have to rewatch Benitez-Palomino, I also remember it being competitive and fairly close with Benitez deserving the decision.

I have to go with Benitez in this one. All due respect to Buddy but Benitez was the superior fighter. Happy to see Buddy go into the hall this year. He has been good for our sport as a fighter and a trainer.
