A faded Pernell Whitaker made DLH look sloppy at times in their 97 match - a still very young but in physical prime Benitez would give Oscar fits. I think DLH's superior firepower and his own speed would keep things close but I think Benitez would be stronger at the finish and ride out the uncomfortable moments, including a knockdown, to edge it on points.
Benitez by ownage. They were opposites in the ring. Benitez was a natural boxer who could fight all day. He was so relaxed. He had an advanced skillset that allowed him to slip and counter right from the pocket. This saving energy. With Oscar he never settled on a style. Never IMO learned to relax in the ring. This led to his stamina problems. I see Oscsr trying to flurry at Benitez but missing so much that he would be a sitting duck by the mid rounds. Wilfredo was patient and wouldnot force his offense. This is an easy fight for El Radar. Not sold on The Golden Boy as a Welterweight when matched with the elite.
Oscar's best hope is having the bout in Vegas and having Arum promoting the bout. That way the scorecards are at least close instead of say a 12-3 domination.
Oscar struggled with Whitaker, which is the kind of learning experience that would make him a much better fighter, and it would have, had Jesus Rivero been kept on as his trainer. But they replaced Rivero with Stewart... The version of Oscar that fought with Stewart would have little chance, with Benitez. I think that Benitez was a pretty good fighter at 147, not nearly the superstar some make him out to be, but if he beat Palomino he'd beat the version of Oscar was concocted after Rivero was fired.
