Late tko by Oscar or an almost completely even fight after 15. Oscar was great at competing with great fighters while not clearly beating them.

I too am way confident picking Benitez on this one. His virtuoso performance against Carlos palomino should be a template on how to counter-punch. Now if you wanted to match up two fighters for a really good, close one, match Palomino and DeLaHoya. Man, that would be a fight.

Tough 1 to call, if they fought 5 times i believe Oscar wins 3 outta 5, he was the stronger guy, with a much better chin, and Oscar was a much better boxer than people give him credit for, he was a lot more than a pretty boy, singer..

I like Oscar on points, in a technical fight, Oscar's punch and chin make the difference in a close fight..

Those dreaded championship rounds of 13 (in this case 12) through 15 would have been all Benitez's...he would have frustrated Oscar throughout the night with that Radar along the way to cement a 9-6 or 10-5 decision.

12 rounds I would take Oscar. 15 Benitez, De La Hoya had a tendacy to fade down the stretch. Either way it would be close because as a poster above pointed out De La Hoya could compete with the best of his or any era he just was never able to decisevely win in the eyes of many.
