Norris via pretty wide UD or Mid to Late Stoppage. Norris is bigger, stronger, faster, harder-hitting, more active & better offensively. To beat Norris you had to hurt him, & while his chin was quite poor, Benitez ain't got the pop to deter Norris. His chin ain't THAT bad. Benitez's power is probably no better than Meldrick Taylor (who Norris FLATTENED).

Also, Benitez chin ain't that good either so if Norris cracks him with a good shot he could be in serious trouble & Norris was a good finisher. He has good defence, but defence alone doesn't win you fights - especially with someone like Norris...

 

Yep. Surprised so many posters think that a smaller, light-hitting, chinny former 140lber could beat an elite beast at 154 like Norris...

 

That's a nice appraisal in my opinion. Benitez would frustrate the hell out of Norris.

 

Benitez survived after being floored by Hearns.

 

I used to think Benitez would win but I've been watching alot of Norris recently and he's got some really fast hands and I think he has alot faster hands at jr.middle then Benitez does.
And one thing that gave Benitez fits- SPEED.
I actually think Terry catches Benitez and finishes him in round 10.

 

Part of me thinks Norris might just overpower Wilfredo. Benitez was hard to hit, but when you did he took it hard because of the way he avoided shots he didn’t offer a lot in terms of offence either.

Benitez. People forget how good he was at 154 because it lasted such a short time. 81-82 Benitez is one of the best ever at 154. Destroyed Maurice Hope, beat Carlos Santos, beat Duran, and did reasonably well against Hearns who's maybe the best ever at 154.

 

Benitez had the better chin in this matchup. Terry Norris was fine China. Terry also had an inferior defense. Benitez not a huge puncher but he could stop Terry. Norris might have quicker hands but not reflexes.
I agree with those that have Benitez finding his groove a few rounds in and out boxing Norris from the pocket.

 

I wouldnt say Terry had a china chin. It was not one of his strong points of course but he did beat Quincy,Buster, Brown and those guys could punch.
I think his chin was not strong and he did get caught at times trading too much but Benitez actually had a similar chin as Terry did.

 

How many rounds did you give him vs Hearns? Hope,Santos, and Duran dont have the speed of a Norris.
