Interesting 1, I'll go with Forrest's Hearnslite impression being enough here

Benitez at his 147 best beats Forest, who wasn't quite a Hearns.

This would be a tossup. I think Forrest could trouble Wilfred with his range, but as someone said, Vernon wasn't Hearns. This one isn't easy to pick, but I'll say Forest by SD.

Forrest wasnt a fraction of Hearns!

Its a competitive fight, but if its the best Benitez in there... he wins clearly.

Benitez wins a surprisingly easy decision. Forrest was not close to Hearns and Tommy did not win that fight too easily. He had to box for 15 rounds to get Wilfred's belt at 154.

I agree:yep That is for me the best ever performance by Tommy, i watched the fight again only last week & it's def up there as one of my all time favorites. I had Hearns the winner but it was a closely contested affair as to be expected from these 2 fistic titans.

An absolutely magnificent display of boxing nous from both protagonists. That is without doubt the best of Tommy, it was for me mesmorising & i'm at a lose to comprehend how some folk on here on ESB could consider that a boring fight.:huh

I can't ever see Vernon not getting sucked into the traps that Wilfredo will lay out for him:deal

Yeah Tommy fought well. In a way Tommy was lucky he hurt his hand in that fight, then he had to fight with his jab and win a decision by picking his shots and controlling the action when Wilfred went on the ropes. Tommy noticed Wilfred wanted to get him on the ropes and sometimes would stay in ring center. Had Tommy not hurt his hand, he might have taken chances and Wilfred might have counterpunched him and hurt him.

The fight goes the distance, and Benitez prevails by UD.

Yeah, this. It's a styles thing, not necessarily who was better.
