Wilfredo Gomez had to be great consider no one since has done what he did at 122.

Sure he underestimated one the greatest fighters of all time, Salvador Sanchez...and sometimes you hear derogatory commentary, but at his best Gomez was like a modern day chocolatito to the third power in terms of reputation and hype.

I look at all the super- bantams before or after and no one has ever equaled what he did, is it just a coincidence? because if its a weak divison, surely someone else would have come close. That leads me to believe that in a lot of ways that loss to Sanchez has made Gomez's career supremely underrated and he never got the chance at a rematch.

I like to look at the Chavez vs Laporte fight and then compare it to the domination of Laporte at the hands of Gomez. How great was Gomez really if we look at the overall picture?for me he has to be one of the greatest 100 fighters of all time, in many lists I see him excluded yet I see the likes of DLH mentioned instead why? guys rate Gomez for me.

that fight with Pintor should be remedial viewing for all boxing novices, a true display of guts and aggression, a real fight, not a morse code fest or fencing duel....

The objectivity in the OP went out the window with the very first sentence.
