Does the Puerto Rican Bazooka stop the Japanese Monster in his tracks or does the Monster walk right through all of the Bazooka's heavy artillery.
I have Gomez winning this one in a fantastic bout. The one thing lacking from Inoue's resume is quality opposition. It's not his fault. Monster has beaten the best out there but an old and then older Donaire are his toughest opponents. This is not to say Inoue couldn't beat better but I am going to take the guy who's done it over the one who hasn't Gomez by stgoppage.
Great fight. I have to favor Gomez by a hair at this point. But Inoue's career is still being written so final judgement awaits
I favor Gomez based on how easily he destroyed Zarate who is an even deadlier puncher than Inoue. People tend to forget just how skillful and smooth an operator he really was prior to the fight against Sanchez. His footwork and combinations were exquisite. I also think it depends on how Inoue looks when he does fight at 122 and if he is able to clean out that division. Fulton and MJ are not going to be easy fights for Inoue.
What are these gaping holes and deficiencies in Inoue's game that makes him not on Zarate's level and would get him annihilated by Gomez?
Probably defense and not much head movement in Inoue. Understand that Zarate in his prime was a force of nature at BW and was unbeaten before he stepped up to face Gomez, who easily dismantled him. Zarate posed a threatening proposition due to his height, reach, power but got destroyed, that's how good Gomez is. Gomez at his absolute best was as complete a fighter as you can get.
"His footwork and combinations were exquisite " This explains exactly why Gomez will out box and stop Inoue late in a thriller. Everyone also wonders how Gomez will take Inoue's power, How will Inoue take the bombs of Bazooka?
