Inoue's defensive liabilities are highly exaggerated. For as offensive as he is, he doesn't take a lot of flush punches or punishment, and he rolls with and/or dodges a lot of return fire. Understated subtle slickness. He gets caught no more than and probably less than Crawford and Clenelo (who are both known for being slick and hard to hit clean) and Lomachenko. The only huge punches (2) he's taken was from one fight — the first Donaire fight. As Inoue goes up in weight and faces bigger opponents, I'm sure we'll see more caution/defensive. No one annihilates Inoue.
Inoue's footwork is ultra efficient and the best in boxing at the moment. His combinations are deft and punishing. Inoue's ring IQ and boxing skills are also sublime. He's pretty much a professor of boxing (footwork, punch selection and placement, pacing, timing, distance management) so I don't think Gomez outboxes Inoue.
You need to watch Wilfredo Gomez's fight to get a clear understanding of his abilities. Prime Gomez had everything such as offense, defense, aggression, footwork, and power. He was the complete package and nigh unbeatable at 122, no one beats him at that weight class.
Bro, I can post Inoue highlights as well. I've already pointed out that Inoue's defense isn't as big of a liability as people make it out to be (perhaps it's glaring because Inoue does absolutely everything else right and at an elite level). So like tactically, how would Gomez beat Inoue?
I think you're just overly fond of and therefore overrate fighters of the past as many people tend to do about many things. You shouldn't shortchange Inoue in a hypothetical match up. You need to understand what you are seeing before you, which I don't think you really do.
I'm only posting highlights because it seems like you haven't watched a second of Gomez fights at all, therefore you don't seem to have a clear idea on how good he is and why he would be a difficult fight for Inoue.
I don't know where you got this idea that I haven't seen any of Gomez, Zarate, or Harada fights — is it because I pick Inoue to beat them all? Or are you trying to be a boxing hipster? And no need to get all passive aggressive. Don't know why Inoue is triggering for you...
I can also say that you're just overly fond and overrate Inoue as well. I'm not shortchanging Inoue I'm just basing this on what we've seen Gomez do against higher level competition.
I'm a boxing enthusiast and fanatic who admires all fighters from past and present and keeps it real and fair.
I'm a massive fan of Inoue, but I keep it real. Just like I was a massive fan of Pac, but recognized that his footwork was brilliant and sloppy (masked and balanced out by his insane athleticism). With Inoue, his ring IQ is off the charts. His efficiency, footwork, punch selection, punch sequencing, angles, and timing — all off the charts as well. That's not fan boyism — it's for all to see and the reasons why he has never been outboxed, outslugged, or lost more than a handful of rounds in his entire career.
His demolition of Alberto Davila (who is one of my personal favorites) is one of his best showings. The man had everything in his arsenal.
