This is actually more competitive than a lot of RC's match-ups. Gomez could get dropped early, and Zamora was nothing if not a big puncher with pretty good hand speed. It would be dramatic, at any rate.
Honestly this I feel would be one-sided from the opening bell. Zamora could punch, but he was inferior in pretty much every way to Gomez.
Gomez cheated against Zarate and Zarate cheated against Zamora. Zarate was probably cheated against outside the ring (too) vs Gomez, by manipulating the scales in order to drain him (a huge 118 ) @ 122.
People can start threads on whatever subject as they like, I've never had a problem with it. The same goes for people waxing on about their favourite fighters and demonstrating bias, I do it myself tbf (though I do try hard to be as objective as possible, which can take the fun out of it). Like I clearly said, freedom of speech and all that. Hypothetical fights can be interesting to ponder and fun to discuss. What I see no point in doing, though, is starting a hypothetical fight thread featuring a fighter you really like and are usually highly biased about, credible matchup or not, only to state three posts that later that x would've hammered y without breaking sweat. It might be fun to imagine for the thread starter, which is fine, as long as they realise that some people occasionally find it to be little more than a slightly non-discussion which clutters up the forum and are bound to voice that opinion at some point. Nothing to do with high horses and the liberal intelligentsia or any such *******s. It's as straightforward as finding something a bit redundant. I've seen red get tetchy with other posters on here for saying that fighters like Marcel and Kalambay - who he maybe doesn't have much interest in - could've beaten x or y. And calling people revisionist hipsters or similar pish for saying so. I'm not trying to be truculent or to pick a fight for no reason. In fairness, I'd probably pay to watch Gomez vs Zamora. I've seen worse fantasy matchups, but that isn't the point. Whatever, really.
rc, I've nothing personal against you as a poster. There have been times when I've enjoyed your contributions even if I haven't agreed with your opinion (and also if I have).
Frank, please tell how Wilfredo and Zarate manipulated those scales, how the officials missed your decision of "cheating."
Zamora's fight with Sandoval is what leads me to think this would be a one sided shut down by Wifredo. Superfly took it too Alfonzo on even terms until he was caught with the big left hook, but he didn't have anything to hurt or make Zamora back up with, a problem bazooka wouldn't have had.
My claim about scales manipulating referred 2d Gomez vs Zarate fight only. I do not blame Gomez himself 4 it, only his handlers. They calibr8ed d w8s so they showed Zarate was overw8, while in fact he had no problem making 122 (as huge a 118 he was, 122 was doable 4 him) , so Zarate was not only outweighed in this fight, he was also drained. Zarate held and hit vs Zamora and hit him while he was down, and Gomez hit low near end of rd 4 and also hit after d bell there. In rd 5 he hit Zarate while Zarate was down. It surely did not help Zarate 2 rise on steady legs. These were what I did blame Gomez 4.
No problem my friend, and thank you...no offense taken:good. At times, I'll admit, I can't be "****d", like my British friends say...to go in depth for some reason or another...could be signs of burnout I guess. But on the other hand, I just might take it as a signal to "up my game" .. I would like for you to know that I actually picked B Foster over Monzon in a fairly recent matchup...don't know if it was here or on CHB. I simply think that he was the greatest middleweight...but not necessarily at any other weight.
