Gatti - only because Gomez was absolutely way past it then and Gatti was huge at 130.

Gomez got knocked out by Alfredo Layne and nearly by Rocky Lockridge in a fight he should have lost so his record at junior lightweight is not great.

Gomez’s chin wouldn’t be able to hold up against a guy who was naturally about 4 weight divisions bigger than him and he didn’t have the legs at that point to box his way to a decision, I don’t think. I still think he’d do okay in the early going and probably bust Gatti up a bit but would ultimately get knocked out.

    Not really a fair matchup.

Gatti got exposed vs Floyd and and DLH. Gatti was far more easy to hit than Gomez.

As hittable as Gatti was,no way Gomez survives this.

Gomez had lost those great legs of his by the 130 timeframe. Wrong guy to be in with.

Hmm? Gatti won a lightweight title in his 18th pro fight so he spent little time at 130. Gomez could use guile and professional savvy over a guy with that many fights .Could be closer than what I first thought.

Gatti carried his lead hand too low, Gomez would have caught him with tons of straight rights. Gatti was easy to catch with counter jabs, Gomez would have out-jabbed him. Gatti had slow hands. Gomez had a suspect jaw though so might have been tagged and stopped.
