Instead of fighting Sanchez, Gomez goes after Pedroza, thinking Eusebio is the "easier"
    of the two Featherweight Champions.

Gomez wants the fight in San Juan, and Pedroza wants Panama City, but they settle
on "neutral" Las Vegas as the fight Location.

Both fighters are masters of "dirty tactics".

    Who wins?????

    Pedroza wins later stoppage.

This would turn into a foul filled fight, but Pedroza was smarter and would come out on top.

Pedroza definitely beats Gomez at featherweight

Gomez can’t fight a good FW and win! Most overrated boxer on this forum

Pedroza. Great on defense, ability to fight inside or outside, can out-dirty Gomez if necessary, and significant height and reach advantage. Gomez doesn't bring anything at 126 that convinces me he can beat Pedroza. Biggest 126 win was Laporte. Against the elites (Sanchez, Nelson) he was outclassed...and Pedroza was at that elite level.

I think LaPorte was good and he dominated him.

Pedroza would win in a tough fight. Maybe late stoppage.

Personally i think this would be a grueling fight. I'd be throwing in the Gomez from the 70's, say around the Zarate time not the faded warrior from the Laporte fight. He wasn't neglecting his solid skillset around this time and would have been extremely competitive here. He was a much better fighter than the one who made the permanent move up.

PhillyPhan is incredibly biased against Gomez.

Gomez could beat plenty of GOOD featherweights.

    But Pedroza wasnt just "good".

    Pedroza by decision.

Gomez was never as good at 126 as 122.

Yeah, but it would be at 126 lbs. Zarate was coming up from 118 lbs when he fought the naturally (and big) 122 lb. Gomez. Those lbs. make a difference. Gomez never showed great power at 126 lbs. And most of his 122 lb. competition was mediocre. It was a ******* division.
He could go the distance with Pedroza, but Eusebio is just too wily and strong at 126 lbs. for Gomez. I don't think Eusebio takes him out like Sanchez did, but instead, decisions him over 15 rounds. Gomez was not past prime when Sanchez destroyed him, and, was in fact, the betting favorite. Sanchez totally exposed him.

Rarely do you see a thread with such agreement, the reason is obvious to knowledgeable fans. After several action packed rounds ,Gomez would struggle to go 15 with Eusebio. UD Pedroza 145-140

If it is being biased to count Gomez as the best SBW then maybe I am. If it is biased to also realize that he lost to Nelson and Sanchez at FW and believe that Gomez is not going to beat ANY great Feathers and yes Pedroza qualifies., then again I must be biased. Gomez gets stopped by Pedroza around 8-10. I guess that makes me biased
