    Gomez by ko.

Rigo is brilliant but I've not seen him against a good enough pressure fighter to favour him over Boom Boom

Gomez. At 122 unbeatable I would take him by KO over any 122 pounder in history. He was one of the 3-4 greatest fighters I ever saw and at times the best pure boxer I ever saw. Gomez gets to Rigo in 5. And I think Rigo is great and being ducked by all the cowards around his weightclass. Lomenchenko, especially Santa Cruz, Russell all the others above Jr feather and below. It is a disgrace. Boxing is really bad nowadays because it has become a cult sport. Canelo and Cotto duck Golovkin and wont fight at 160 but say they are middle champs. The gutless Stevenson live in fear of Kovalev. All the Haymon fighters who fight setups and not real dangerous fighters. It's a disgrace and the boxing fans get what they deserve for not speaking up and showing their opinion at the gate. It is a reward without trial world sadly and boxing is worst for it. FIGHTERS FIGHT! Cowards hide and talk tough and run.

Rigo's great skills may well give Gomez some trouble early but Rigo certainly doesn't look to have the best chin and that spells disaster with a capital D against Gomez!

Gomez by KO. Maybe even within 3 rounds or less.

Gomez was vicious at 122. Rigo has great skills but seems a bit fragile. Bazooka by 8 round ko.

Gomez ko in 8 rounds is about right. (Of course Gomez gets in a blatant foul somewhere along the way while the referee is checking his cell phone for soccer game result updates).

Good post. Sadly, the best rarely fight each other.

Yep. They don't seem to care for legacys anymore. Maybe with so many titles it doesn't matter to them. There were days though where the rep meant something. Not just easy money.

I'll make my case for Rigo. First off just let me say that I think Rigo's chin gets a bit underrated, he took clean shots from a KO artist in Donaire and never shook, he got caught off balence coming out of a clinch with his feet square and was up by 3. Same against Amigasa and the second knockdown was more a push than anything. Either way he got up and hospitalised both men. Also I don't think I've ever seen a fighter with better footwork who is harder to corner than Rigo. He looks to clinch and smother on the inside denying Gomez his best opportunities. Add to that shocking hand speed, crushing power, the increased distance that usually accompany an orthodox vs southpaw match up and Rigo's slight reach advantage he has all the ability to dominate on the outside and walk Gomez into that lazer left hand. He fights well going in both directions using his check right hook to skip away out of distance. Rigo has all the tools to give anyone EVER a hard, frustrating evening at 122.

Nobody doubts he got the skills, it's just a matter of heart which he's shown on 2 occasions. The only current fighter who would even trouble him is a weight class higher and won't fight him.

Gomez and Fenech KO Rigo. The others...it's hard to say, Rigondeaux is one of the very best ever (or was. He has looked unimpressive in his last 2 fights, and he is old).

One he fought on less than a weeks notice and the other he turned into a horrifying series of blood filled doorknobs. He broke Amigasa's entire face. A guy who dwarfed his in stature and he turned him in sloth from the Goonies in his home town. How much more impressive could he be other than the 7th round?
