Focusing solely on the styles clash, I'd say Gomez has the upperhand. I'm not certain if it is retained with Marquez' obvious size advantage, however. Juan Manuel was actually over 135 for the majority of his fights at featherweight, and Gomez probably wouldn't have knocked him out even if they were similar in weight.
Dunno...haven't seen that much of Marquez to be honest. I was a bit surprised to see how easily Sanchez was able to hurt Gomez though, because at super bantam his chin was fine.
I've seen loads of marquez at fw and I personally think he won every fight there. The guy was brilliant at fw and had he been given his shot at hamed he'd probably be known today as one of the greatest fw's in history with a ridiculous 7 year championship reign. I'd give marquez an edge. His power and timing should be too much for gomez. To throw salt on the wound he's one of the greatest combination punchers in history. He could finish the fight early.
Give me the Gomez that fought Sanchez by close points decision. Gomez will try to bomb Marquez out, see that it ain't going to work, get rocked himself on a couple of occasions, then turn boxer and outbox Marquez in the middle to late rounds, securing enough points before Marquez edges a few back late.
I won't pick Gomez to beat many greats at FW. I like him at SBW, to give anyone a tough night. Marquez quite handily..although as always gomez will give a valiant effort in defeat!~
