i pick no one to beat GOMEZ AT 122. Ever. Gomez by KO. After Duran & Monzon, 122 pound Gomez is the best I EVER saw in my lifetime 65 yrs.

I think people in general forget Gomez could move very well and could out manuver Fenech and had the power to keep Jeff honest.

He could but even at his absolute peak he was dropped by Yum, who had T-Rex arms so I’m certain that Fenech could at least make it highly competitive.

People forget how well-balanced Gomez was because even before Sanchez he had started to fall in love with his power and become a tad more one dimensional.

Picking against Gomez at 122 is almost like picking against SRR at welterweight.

For those picking Fenech, I can see the temptation - he was an utterly relentless pressure fighter - but he only fought a few times at the weight. Had he stayed there longer he could have built a legacy, whereas Gomez is still the no. 1 fighter ever at jnr featherweight and proved his greatness beyond doubt.

Gomez was probably the best puncher ever at 122 and between 1977-1980 he was pretty much flawless as a boxer as well (before the partying took over and the dedication started to wane).

I think that Fenech would be open to Gomez's counters and Gomez hit too hard for Fenech to just walk through them.
