Will a good boxer always defeat the brawler?

Always? No of course not, there are plenty of examples of then the puncher has beaten a superior boxer. But in general a skilled boxer has more ways to win, especially if the boxer can punch hard as well.

A puncher/brawler only has one or two ways to win, get the KO or hurt the opponent often enough to win the majority of the rounds both options rely on them being able to make their power count. If the puncher can't hurt the boxer then he has no plan B. A complete boxer can do different things during the fight to overcome the puncher which is why they win more often than not.

Will The superior Boxer almost always prevail over the pure puncher?

If the superior boxer has a good chin, no stamina issues, and is not giving up a lot in size, the answer is almost always.

But much depends on the skills of the puncher. The term pure puncher kinda of says the guy isn't very skilled.

 

If all things are equal give me the a level boxer over the a level brawler 9 out of 10 times.

Yes but most people , even people who call themselves "Sweet Science Gurus" dont have the observational skill or boxing knowledge to separate brawlers from pressure fighters from swarmers.

Pure Boxer beats Brawler beats Pressure Fighter beats Pure Boxer. Thats how those matchups are handicapped.

Of course many fighters can utilize different styles, or attributes of different styles to a certain extent. There are very few matchups where both guys embody only one archetype.

 

Boxer's weakness: Brawlers/Pressure Fighters
Brawler's weakness: Boxer-Punchers
Boxer-Puncher's weakness: Pure Boxers

This is true most of the time, but there are a lot of in intangibles involved, such as speed, footwork, toughness, chin, power and skill level.

Mayweather is a boxer, so is Broner and they will always have trouble with guys like Maidana & Porter. Pac is a combination between a boxer-puncher and pressure fighte, and he matches up really well against brawlers. Mayweather matches up well against other boxers and boxer-punchers like Alvarez and Guerrero.

GGG & Kovalev is a combination between boxer-puncher and pressure fighter, making them very difficult to fight regardless of style.
