Resume wise Rigo and Loma have it very hard to be placed among the top 30 best boxers of all time because of their late start. Saying thay if Rigo wins would he be a top 10 or 20 atg h2h? Im only asking for Rigo because anything other than a wide UD or late KO will make Loma look ordinary.

boxing historians will be kind to rigo as the most feared man in boxing, its not that he was not willing to take on all comers, its that no one would come not one professional prize fighter. rigo had to give up two weight classes to even get a fight. nevertheless it must be earned in the ring. rigo is atg material but he was so feared he never got a chance to prove it. I would say if he beats loma it could be argued in his favor.

boxers like calling out his name when asked who they wanted to fight next, but the phone never rang. santa cruz, martinez, frampton, ect....... these guys feared The Chakal.

Only if lomachenko go on and achieve something special.
If Loma is to retire now, he will be remember as a good fighter but not great, so beating him might get Rigo into HoF but not an ATG.

True, it all depends on what Lomachenko would do after that fight, but don't count on Rigo winning, after watching them together in the video today I don't think he will do as well as fans think................Rigo is there for the money and that's it..................unless Lomachenko did not train for the fight, did not take him seriously, but according to Rigo in an interview with Atlas, he is no underestimating Rigo at all.....................will not take a chance in any fight..................Lomachenko has a plan for this fight, he knows what to do..................interesting fight to watch, could be a good fight, we won't know until after the final bell...........

ATG? no.. not like that. ATG ranking is never from one fight.

No... But wins over a prime donaire and a win over Loma two divisions north would definitely be on the right track. Now if he was to go down to 126 right after and beat the kingpins of that division id say hed be in the discussion.

Agree with this. If Lomachenko beats Rigo and drops his next 6 to journeymen he'll be an ATG nothing.

Neither is going down as an ATG, not that their
skillsets won't permit it, but competition and era
    won't

Lomachenko has an avenue. He's already beaten Russel Jr. wide and badly who was the top guy at 126. And a very good fighter. He made Walters quit by embarrassing him so bad. If he beats Rigo badly and then moves to 135 and beats Garcia he can start building a case. Then maybe if wins a 140 title he can became a 4 weight titlist and then move back down to 135 and start a long title reign.

Hopkins never beat anybody great. He ducked Toney and was taken to school by Jones Jr. His best win is a blown up WW and a blown up Kelly Pavlik already on the slide from booze. And he's an ATG.

Longevity has a way of clouding media judgement. Simply stay around long enough and they will overpraise you. I'm more a guy who's interested in what you actually did in your prime and how good you looked at your best not that longevity doesn't matter. But it's secondary to me.

If Rigo wins it will rank as one of the greatest wins ever. It will be a very special, rare accomplishment to every honest boxing observer, who appreciates the talent and both amateur and pro accomplishments of Lomachenko. And it doesn't matter if Loma doesn't afterwards jump through all the hoops his haters insist he does.

But the win alone won't make Rigo an ATG. If he retires with it we'll look back on him as a guy who had two p4p wins, yet whose pro career otherwise was filler, and not enough filler at that. Quantity of quality opposition is what makes an undoubted ATG. Even with a Loma win and when factoring in Rigo's long reign and dominance he will rank a notch below many guys who weren't as good as him. Below Pacquiao, Cotto, and Mosley, definitely below Ward.

Not in my eyes.. I just dont understand.. to me this is the win Loma needs to be more relevant.. I know he did as an amateur but still not proven as a pro for me.. Great fighter but I really don't understand the incredible Hype for a fighter that still hasn't really beaten anyone considered ''Elite'' Rigo would be his biggest win so far if he gets the job done.. That being said I am a big fan of Loma and I have a lot of expectations from Loma and he can definitely get this done but no I dont think Rigo is an all ATG for beating Loma

Not really man. Lomachenko is already closing in on Cotto. I suspect he will pull near even with Mosley by the time his career is over. Loma has already beaten 2 excellent fighters very wide.

Beating Rigo may not seem like a huge accomplishment it won't be. Rigo's a little old and slow, but could still be a good win. If Loma beats Mikey Garcia within the next few years you have to rate him over Cotto and then he's closing in on Mosley.

If he puts in work he can still catch Ward.

He will not catch Pacquiao. He won't even get close.

Mayweather never beat anybody elite either, at least not in their prime. Tyson never did either. His best wins were an old as dirt Larry Holmes and a LHW named Michael Spinks. Naseem Hamed never beat anybody super noteworthy either, but he was a massive star.

Hype is not always fully justified. Sometimes it just happens.
