I don't think size has anything to do with it. When AA was motivated, he trashed Miranda at 166 and beat a 6'4 Ikeke handily. Sure, Froch is a better fighter than these two, but AA never tried against Froch, even when the distance was right for him. Dirrell is faster and more skilled than Froch and still AA was clawing back into the fight in the late rounds and looked like he had a decent KO chance before the foul. If he had fought his heart out against Froch, win or lose, it would have been a great war. His problem is motivation.

Without Head movement/torso movement Abraham doesn't stand a chance.I don't think he can learn that in 1 training camp and 1 fight.

imo it was frochs strength and heavy handiness

abrahams double arm guard simply did not work v froch who planted his feet and drove his jab straight through the double arm guard time and time and time again.

no other fighter arthur has fought has been able to do that to him.

what nornally happens is his opponents throw flurries they bounce off his guard and he launches sparodic attacks.

against froch he was pushed back by the sheer heavy handiness of frochs jab onto the back foot and by the time he shifted his weight onto the front foot again froch would have time to see an attack coming.

That's exactly it. At 160, Abraham was totally weight drained, weak guys were going the distance with him and he was unable to let his hands go. Gevor, Ayala, Oral, Simon and others would win early rounds against Abraham. Froch just had enough discipline, power, and distance that it kept Abraham in his shell for the night.

The Froch fight was likely an off night and Abraham can come back to beat Ward, especially if Ward takes him lightly now. The harsh criticism from his coach and the tune up fight are his best bet for regaining that fire.

You can't compare Ikeke and Miranda with world class opposition. Ikeke's best win, to date, was a shop worn Emmet Linton. Miranda's best win to date was either Allan Green or a faded Howard Eastman.

I think a tune-up could help him, 8 months between Dirrell and Froch certainly didn't help him as he likes to fight 3 times a year.

The tricky thing is finding the right fighter to face who he will beat but still learn from as a third losss before facing Ward won't help at all.

That trainer sucks big time. He only tried to improve AA footwork after he saw it was very hard for him to catch Dirrell. He was insulting his fighter in the middle of the Froch fight instead of telling him one way of going past that jab or just give him some tactical advices. He had no plan to start with against Froch.

A trainer who insults his fighter is a **** and should never work again with him.

I think it's not so much the height that bothers Abraham. He has beaten taller fighters.
It's skilled fighters that bother him. Abraham is a pure puncher who can't handle boxers. Carl Froch is not a pure boxer, but he (out)boxed Abraham. Andre Dirrell outboxed him. That frustrated Arthur so much he just clicked (against Dirrell) or resigned (against Froch). Andre Ward will be all wrong for Abraham.

Neither do I, I guess it becomes more useful to Abraham IF the Ward fight is delayed. Froch-Johnson seems to be in March which is good but the last thing Abraham needs is to wait til the summer for his next fight against Ward!
