I think AA dropping out would mean a disaster for his promoter, Sauerland. I bet he would *WANT* to drop out, but they might enforce their slave contract with him. Abraham was on the record before the Froch fight that he wouldn't sign the Super 6 contract again. He dislikes the contract, the long waiting times between fights and the rule set of not being able to fight interim fights. The Ward fight is all wrong for him style-wise and if it wasn't for the tournament he would wisely avoid Ward. Maybe Abraham will try to pull some legal strings to get himself out of the tournament, maybe through some fake injury. It would be the smart move for him.
cant see aa staying in the super six,the bully was beaten up last night and he will never be the same fighter again...:tired glad froch beat him up over the 12 rounds that type of beating will have lasting effects on aa and his cocky promoters...
I also expect him to drop out. Everybody including himself is aware that he's heading to another 108:120 against Andre Ward no matter how hard he trains. Three consecutive losses against three world class opponents would have a devastating effect on his marketability. (it's not a shame to lose to Dirrel/Froch/soon Ward but it does expose you as not being world class if you lose every single round against them und world class is what people believed him to be and what they still expect) He should go down to MW und take on Sturm or Sylvester and make a huge event in Germany out of that. He's not going to beat Martinez or Williams either (despite his 2nd round KO I consider him vastly superior to Abraham in terms of technique and boxing in general and apparently that's what it takes to beat AA with ease) so yeah, I don't see any other options. The best SMWs in the world are out of his league.
No, I certainly hope not anyway. The beauty of this tournament is that it gives you an instant chance at redemption. After the worst loss of his career, he's going straight into a fight with the guy rated by many as the best at the weight. If he drops out, it'll be a long time til he gets that kind of opportunity again. If he beats Ward (unlikely I know) then he revitalises his career.
I see your point. (the Ward fight seems practically un-winnable for AA at this point) But, what the hell? He gets another title shot right away after two one-sided losses. (not bad)
I hope he stays in and knocks Ward the fk out. (I know, it's a pipe-dream) But I'm a 100% confirmed Ward HATER!
hell, he will always have a punchers chance and in boxing anything can happen AA needs to increase his workrate to have any chance of getting that KO.
