ward's going to light him up like a christmas tree. AA is nothing more than a overhyped german fighter that feasted on bums. his claim to fame was beating a JT that was shot, and already been koed twice. i'd be surprised if he continues not if he quits. he basically quit in the direll fight and got himself dq'ed and he not quit last night he didn't even want to be there.
AA wasn't overhyped... He was doing well with his turtle defense against smaller, lighter punchers. As a result, what worked against Taylor and Miranda is not going to work against the bigger guys like Froch and Dirrell. This was the question most had going into the super 6 and those who felt AA was simply too small are looking quite right. See, as I explained last night if you are accustomed to letting your opponent beat up on you (as AA often does), you will pay a price when a larger, stronger opponent does that. Instead of simply deflecting and being in position to throw, Abraham was often off balance and going through a lot of pain to do it. He was worn out from all those punches Froch landed against his guard. Psychologically this pushed him to turtle more. If he does decide to stay the course and fight Ward he will have to abandon his typical defense. Ward might not have a lot of KO power but he's a natural 168. That means if he carries a high work rate and beats down Abraham's guard he will have the same success. I personally think he's done at 168. He's too old to learn defense all over again and he's too small for his defense to work against these larger, more active boxers.
I will say this, AA has some good skills for a guy who isn't fast/quick, but he hits like a brick shithouse, and he's very good finisher, but he's the ultimate frustrating style of fighter much like Wlad, in that he has this skill, but he chooses to not use any of it far too often. That was a long run-on sentence.
I'm sure that Abraham will fight Ward cause it's for the WBA belt and just that is enough to entice him into it. I'm more concerned where the fight will take place. If it's not at least on neutral ground, then I seriously doubt Abraham ever goes to Oakland and the chances are slim to none that Ward is willing to fly into Europe.
No way it happens in Europe... Ward is champ, 3-0 in the tourney and AA is 1-2 and both losses were pretty lopsided honestly. Not saying it should happen in Oakland, but they gotta sell tickets, and I don't think Ward can carry a AC or LV card at this point. They'd need to package it with a big undercard with star Mexican fighters at this point to sell.. and I don't see Showtime doing that at all.
I agree. The balance issue is especially vexing because as he falls backward, the opponent gets a breather and a dose of confidence. Plus, I thought Abraham showed a lot of distress due to forearm pain late in the fight last night. Had that been a 15-round fight, he might have gotten stopped. He actually matches up at least a little better with Ward in some ways, but the problem for him is that Ward can just use his feet to avoid any situation he doesn't like. And Ward will crack him to the body and around the ears, all the while using a tighter defense than Froch or Dirrell. I'd honestly be more interested in Abraham vs. Pavlik at this point.
It will be in Oakland more than likely for the reasons I mentioned. If AA wanted the fight in Germany he should have actually tried to win his last two fights.
Ward is 2-0 in the tourney. They would sell tickets in europe too. Why should Ward have all fights at home. The finale will be definitely in the US so if the semifinale takes place in okland Ward hasn't to travel at all:admin Remember the hometownfighter is 7:0 in the supersix. Everyone knows that Showtime wants Ward to win the S6 but they should try at least to make it not that obvious
btw The scorecards at the Ward-Bika fight in Oakland were ridiculous. 118-110 118-110 120-108 :adminatschatsch the right fighter won but the fight was closer something like 116-112
At this point I'll count Ward-Bika as much as I'd count Johnson-Green. He won his 3 fights on Showtime since this thing started, he didn't need to even fight a guy as tough as Bika, he was already in the next round.
Maybe your right, but if Abraham throws a punch in Oakland he gets disqualified. The tournament goes **** if one fighter gets all the advantages
