Abraham already is a SMW who happens to be fighting at 160. When he moves up he will be a top 3 SMW from the start.
I hope he faces Sturm and , more importantly, Pavlik before he leaves 160. Re Bute: Bute is a better boxer and can outpoint him at this stage. But anyone who thinks Bute 'sucks up' a big shot from Abraham is just plain delusional. If he catches Bute with the big one, it sleepy-time for Lucien.
I can't see him beating Kessler. I would however, give him a shot against Taylor, Bute and Andrade. I agree with several other posters that Abraham v. Andrade needs to happen.
I see his reach and work rate being more of a problem as he moves up. Well, that and his promoter. What top guy will agree to fight him in Germany on a Saurland card?
Of course. In fact I think he'll be better at that weight. Defense and power will take you a long ways at any weight near your prime weight.
You can't see him beating Kessler? Kessler won't even be able to hit Abraham lol... I see Abraham putting Kesslers lights out!
In boxing, fighters have all different types of styles. Abraham uses ddefense, and wears his opponents down. He does NOT need to be active like other fighters. Duran was active and always in attack mode. That style didn't help Pav against Hop. In boxing you have to be smart, use defense and find openings. So far what some of you perceive as Abrahams flaws has kept him undefeated. You can talk about the first Miranda fight, but true champions do rematches and win in style.
Because Abraham can box, and Bute has no defense and can't take Abraham's power. Andrade is a poor man's Abraham and look what he did to Bute.
Berrio is no Abraham. Andrade was easy to hit, Abraham isn't. If and when those two ever fight...Abraham, when he opens up to punch will relieve Bute of his title.
Abraham will be fine at Supermiddle. I hope he gets Sturm or Pavlik at 160 first, but i have no high hopes Kohl lets Sturm, his golden boy, fight Abraham. The elite fighters at 168 are stylewise more difficult to beat for Abraham. Especially Kessler has a difficult style to beat, plus he hasnt show any vulernability to hard punches. So if Abraham cannot impress Kessler with his punching power, he will lose a decision with something like 117:111. Bute on the other hand was lucky as hell to win against Andrade, and i think Abraham is a little bit better than Andrade, he delievers his punches more accurate, has a better techniqe and at least equal power. Taylor - Abraham would be 50/50, depends on a lot of things. Taylor has to fight a smart fight which he didnt vs. Pavlik. You have to fight smart against an elite fighter, and im leaning toward Abraham outsmarting Taylor. Froch - Abraham would be a fun fight, at leat for the Abraham fans, i think Abraham beats Froch in every department, Froch is stylewise a dream for Abraham !
Not very convincing. You sound so sure of yourself. Bute can't take Abraham's power. How do you know? Bute never had problems with any power so far. Bute has no defense. That's probably why he's a world champion. Abraham is a terrific boxer, as Bute. And Andrade is a true warrior. It's not simple as you think. Abraham is the best, all the others are ****. Try analysing properly how would go a fight between two fighters. He will knock his ass out is not an analysis, it's a 12 years old comment.
