Will Adrian Diaconu be a real champ or he's just passing by ?

Having a belt without fighting for it makes you a paper champ in the eye of most people. Dawson vacate his title for a shot at Tarver, do you find that legetimate, or, it's only a matter of money ?

How long will Diaconu hold on to his new belt, until he defends it ?
Or, will he give hell to anybody that wants to take it away from him ?

My hope is that Diaconu defends a couple of times and then call out Dawson who he should have fought in the first place. Until then, his belt seems paperish, even for me, a long time fan of The Shark.

I know for a fact that Diaconu is much better than what he showed against tough guy Chris Henry, he was sick and his stamina was very low. So, he now needs to get rid of Branco fast and give old man Johnson a shot at his belt. If he's still the champ, bring on Dawson.

    He's the definition of a paper champ.:deal
BTW Tarver is a much more dangerous fight for Dawson than The Shark. Tarver is a proven fighter at the elite level.

Hey man, I agree with you for now, but do you think Tarver, at his age, mean anything for a young fighter that has everything to prove like Dawson.

To me Tarver is close of being shot even if he's still a big name, same as RJJ, or B-Hop or Woods or Johnson etc.

I want to see hungry young fighters go at it for the honor, not just big matchup for PPV money.

    But nothing is perfect.

I agree and I wanted the Shark-Dawson as well but when Dawson vacated for Tarver I started thinking. Tarver maybe old but he just schooled Clinton Woods and he has great power and is a savvy vet, we all saw what the last savvy vet did to Dawson. I honestly feel that the Tarver fight will be the better fight and mean more for the divison than Shark-Dawson right now. If they both win their next fight the fight will be much bigger and better than it would now.

No, it makes you a paper champ, period. That's the definition of a paper champ.

I suspect he'll hold onto his belt for a while but never cease to be a paper champ. The folks at Interbox know that he's valuable to market in Romania and Montreal, so they'll have him keep fighting cupcakes over there, a la what Universum is doing with Erdei. Eventually, he'll have to face a legitimate contender as a mandatory, and he'll probably lose, unless guys age more in the interim. Right now, he's a clear #9 in the division, but he also clearly loses to any of the top 8. He's not in the same league as Calzaghe, Hopkins, Tarver, Dawson, Johnson, Erdei or even Jones or Woods. Maybe he has a chance against Jones because Jones ain't that good anymore, or against Tarver if he fights like he did against the Kosovo Kid, but he would need those guys to have a bad day in order to beat them.

DIaconu won't hold that belt for too long. Dawson would have koed him. He's is exciting and can bang (i'm from Mtl too) but not skilled enough to compete with the best.

He is a paper champion but all his career many guys avoided him(not saing ducked) and he can stand in there with the best in the division.Honestly I think Dawson would outbox him forthe full 12 but one shark punch and it's lights out for Bad Chad.Diaconu can go the distance with the best in the division maybe even beat some of the guys.As far for the belt he might vacate it himself for a big fight too

To anser your question:NO, he will never probably be considered the no 1 guy in the division but given a shot he could beat anybody in a good night plus the man has a heart like Gatti,Arce or Vasquez

Well, the guy has to step in with somebody to prove himself. The winner of Tarver/Dawson would be a good start.

I saw every fight live held in Montreal, and often Diaconu seemed not so well prepared as far as fitness and will to win. He has a great heart but nothing comparable to Thunder or Vasques. And you don't have to convince me, i know he's able to KO everybody at LHW, on a good night....

When Dawson and Tarver are getting it on he will be fighting Branco and he probably must fight Johnson next so don't think he will be fighting Tarver or Dawson sometime soon

What do you mean not prepared in fitness, that's just because different from most of the fighters these days he doesn't look like a bodybuilder,so what?Pavlik looks like a mechanic an KOs everybody and Miranda looked ripped against Abraham and what happened?

If I tell you that not so long ago, maybe 3 years, Diaconu was never eating properlly, he was then smoking and drinking. These are not the ways to the top of the world, and don't get me wrong, he's my favorite fighter after Bute. Not that I don't like all the other great names, but I can't feel the same attachment since I never saw them live.

He is more limited than Lacy. Dawson would stop him under 6 rounds. Glen Johnson would murder him. Tarver would humilate him. I think even bum Erdei would beat him.

he would be one of the worst title holders we have right now among the 72 (18x4, actually there are more considering all the interim titles), but not the worst, he would be a better champion than say dmitri kirilov who just lost his title
