Will Adrian Diaconu be a real champ or he's just passing by ?

Diaconu's situation bares a lot of similarity to that of Steve Cunningham.

Both were manditories for a title that the titlist refused to fulfill (O'Neill Bell v Cunningham and Dawson v Tarver)

In both cases the champion prefered to take on an older, more established name rather than their manditory (Bell v Mormeck, Dawson v Tarver).

I think in both cases they could easily have accomodated both the manditory and the other match.

So, Cunningham and Diaconu are both paper champions to an extent, but in both cases that reflects more badly on the 'champions' at the time than themselves.

Dawson didn't want Diaconu so he is fighting Tarver.

He wants the bigger name. He is sick of that mandatory crap so dropped the belt. He will fight him after he knocks out Tarver. :bbb

Well there's an article on the main page of this site which should give you some backround to the whole Dawson-Diaconu situation. The reality is is that there couldnt be a better case of a fighter ducking another based upon fear....nothing else really, espescially as long as this was dragged out. no excuse. just fear......the guy ****ing camped out with his promoter to have Adi removed as his mandatory(this being the 2nd or 3rd time ducking)
The final straw was Dawson ducking out(again) despite a career high payday and despite the fact that Dawson signed a contract with the WBC. I have never in my life heard of a fighter going to such lengths to not fight a proven, undefeated fighter who has earned his shot. So what could it be then? Not money, not credibility(Its a fight the real fight fans want to see for obvious reasons)So then what could possibly have Dawson avoiding Diaconu???
    Fear...plain and simple
Diaconu is a much better fighter than Dawson the difference is Diaconu hasnt had the luxury of having a coniving promoter such as Gary Shaw

The fight is most likely not to happen cuz after Branco the WBC is probably make Glen a mandatory so Adrian is gonna fight him next, maybe somewhere in mid to late 09

Yes but not always the bigger name is the bigger challenge, you gotta understand no one gave Adi a chance in his life to fight a big name, hope Glen does or Dawson.Point is Tarver at this stage in his career is a lesser challenge

mandatory crap? You make no sense whatsoever. Think for a moment all the fighters you're a fan of and think of how many were someone elses mandatory at some point before becoming succesful.....Heres a few...
    Nonito Donaire
    Kelly Pavlik
    Joe Calzaghe
Bernard Hopkins to name a few were all somebodys mandatories at some point
So I guess my point is is that fighters who become mandatories usually earn there way to the top(not always the case)before they become champions...Diaconu is one of those fighters....Ever seen a Diaconu fight? I doubt it

How can you possibly come to that conclusion if you know the history? Dawson simply does not want to fight Diaconu. Diaconu is more intelligent, accurate, and powerful than anyone(including Adamek)Dawson has ever faced. Gary Shaw knows this even the dumbass himself Dawson knows this. Which is why with every dominating victory Adi scores the prospect of a fight between Adi and Dawson get further and further away. Trust me the thought of having to fight Adi kept Dawson up at nite. Why else would he run to mexico to camp?
