I don’t think it will actually happen in January lol, they’ve tried years ago to make that fight several times. AJ doesn’t seem too keen on it either from the post fight interviews. We’ve seen the fiascos in making AJ/Fury and Fury/Usyk, none of these big heavyweight fights happened. AJ and Wilder will probably fight soft touches instead

I think AJ wants this fight, but Wilder has more opportunities - he is rank 1 WBA, WBC, rank 3 (2 is empty) IBF, rank 4 WBO.
    What can happen?

    • Dubois can win vs Usyk, meaning another year for rematch, that will freeze heavyweight division
    • Usyk wins Dubois, he has 2 choices - unification vs Fury (who already has a match) or mandatory Hrgovic
    • Usyk can ditch IBF belt, making Hrgovic-Wilder fight for vacant IBF belt
    • Fury could retire, making Wilder-Ruiz fight for vacant WBC belt
    • AJ wants Wilder spots

It won't happen, the fight will be constantly postponed and the excuse will be that Joshua needs another fight to warm up and so on indefinitely...

Reality is if you are team AJ and care about his well being it is a horrible match up. Hard to see how he doesn’t get sparked out. Hope it happens though as a fan

After his performance last night, it is a categorical no. Wilder will make mincemeat out of him.

Aj would have a heart attack during the ringwalk

Or at the least, full on anxiety attack

Hearn saying it’s on Saudi’s but I’m sure he’ll spin it a few months later and say Wilder doesn’t want the fight lol

Second fight in a row they don't even bother to count when Helenius is down.

Joshua looked good. He is settling in with the style and flowing more, while ocassionaly fixing in his old long guard with some checking rear/lead hand and the likes.

Wilder is an extremely dangerous fight, and while the brutal knockouts against third rate oppositions stay in the collective memory of the boxing fans, they are quick to forget the 95% of the time he was boxing like a toddler, off-balance, ineffective, only winning rounds because he fought on the American soil and could afford to tire his contenders and headhunt the entire distance.

I would by no means bet on Joshua should they fight next, not until I see him step up against somebody better than Franklin and Helenius, but they can prepare him well against Wilder as he already has a lot of great tools drilled (hand fighting, lead hand leverage guards, jab into frame, elbow flips against curved right hands, riding the cross into Futch's counter right uppercut to the body etc.) Him imploding mentally after the first hard shot is possible, but the destruction of his nice guy persona, and embracing the narcissistic douche that he is seems to be working well for him. That and finally moving out from his parents in UK and training in the USA.

Bonus points for Wilder being extremely inactive since the first Fury rematch.

Wilder has struggled with the likes of grandpa Ortiz, and AJ has got up off the canvas to win against Wlad. we have not seen Wilder do the same yet

It needs to happen. It says everything about heavyweight that we are still waiting for:
    Fury vs AJ
    Fury vs Usyk
    Usyk vs Wilder
    Wikder vs AJ

All those guys are near the end while in their 30's. They rather fight Chisora or Charles Martin again than have big fights.

    They will want $50m each...

Which is quite a steep fee

Given Usyk is getting $40-50m and Fury $80-100m.

Seems like the Saudi's have stacked their piggy bank though to make it happen. I wouldn't pay AJ that much anymore he's clearly a broken man.

    Forecast in no particular order:
    AJ vs Whyte II
    AJ vs Chisora
    AJ vs Parker
    AJ vs Franklin II
AJ vs that pensioner in the pub.

I remember this. I doubt that money was available for what would have been a US fight when it's the Saudi's who are needed to reach such figures. Wilder & Aj aren't big enough in the US to draw that money. Even Fury Wilder 4 today couldn't do that in the US. Hell that was 5 years ago. 2018? $50m in the US? No chance. Wilder was even less known then.

Looks like they found that money eventually think that's why AJ seems rather sheepish these days. He knows he is probably getting chinned in horrific fashion for a payday.

We can thank Fury & Usyk for chinning them both off in a timely manner because if they didn't they would have NEVER fought.
