I did say if I were Kov that I'd insist on having a firm ref. It doesn't really matter where the fight is held but he needs a guy in the middle strong enough to call persistent fouling if he's going to beat Ward and avoid being repeatedly head butted.

 

Yeah, I can see Ward using his better footwork, speed and strength to muscle Kovalev defensively as Kovalev attempts to pen Ward in a corner or against the ropes.

Post fight I won't be at all surprised to hear Kov say he was surprised at how fast and strong Ward is.

 

Ward has never repeatedly head butted nobody. Tell a lie long enough and it becomes a truth.
Ward fouling Kessler to death has been blown way out of proportion. You won't count more than two butts in that fight. One was purely accidental .

 

Those crying about butts and fouls are cry babies D. When you talk about big fights like this and you're a fan worried about that kind of ****, to me you're just a **** poster. This is a big fight and you're worried about butts and fouls? Really? Kov and Jackson have done their job. I hate these weasel scumbag posters crying over that kind of ****.

It was deliberate and it did have an effect on Kessler. Ward did benefit from his fouling. Argue with that all you want it Dino, it'll still be just as true.

Now fighters have been using these type of roughhouse tactics since, well, forever. I'm merely pointing out if I were Kov I'd be looking to stifle that with the appointment of a strict ref. If I were Ward and looking to bend the rules then I'd do the opposite.

 

Ward to win an extremely dull and ugly fight

 

he didnt muscle brand or Barrera I dont see him doing it to Kovalev

at 175 he isnt as quick or as strong and thats why I expect Kovalev to stop him

Ward is a disgrace to boxing IMHO.. does what he has to do in order to win. His whole style is about impressing judges and using his head as a weapon.
