Will Anthony Joshua be world champion one day?

People said the same about Audley Harrison and look how his career turned out,I think we'll know if he's got the minerals within ten fights but to say he's a future world champion before he has even started his pro career is a little far fetched.

 

He did not deserve the gold medal, he was outboxed.

 

I think this is the 4th or 5th thread I've seen about this since he got gifted the gold at the London Olympics.
It's not like he's another Lomachenko or something
The guy would have been a 1st round victim if the tournament was held in any other country for crying out loud.

We still have to see how he holds up against a decent pro HW, and that will take up a couple of years at least. If we have an answer sooner than that it probably means he looked bad against low level opposition.

 

Too soon to say, only time will tell.

 

Not sure starting out by topping a bill at the O2 is ideal because straight after that he needs to get down to the nitty gritty where there shouldn't be any glamour or instant red carpets.

He's the next A-Farce. In fact, no he isn't because A-Farce did at least have potential. Joshua doesn't even have that. I just hope he gets a nickname that can easily be changed into something mocking.

How does a 23 year old prospect have less potential than a man who was nigh on 30 before he even turned pro? Audley was a man fighting boys in thoses Olympics.

 

A world title shot in 3 years for Joshua would be far too soon, he's only been an amateur for a few years and had what? Around 40/50 amateur fights?

Theres no need to rush him what so ever.

 

Too early to say, he does have good potential for his age though and is a quick learner after only 40 amateur bouts, but he doesn't deserve all the stick you idiots are giving him, putting him down before his career has even begun, instead of basing all your opinions on his fight against Savon in the Olympics, try watching him in the World Amateur Championships. If he learns anywhere near as fast as a professional as he did as an amateur then god knows what he is capable of.

 

Hes only 23 ffs people writing him off yeah he got a touch in the Olympics but lets start judging him after his first ten fights without a headgaurd.

 

Some of you guys are unbelievable, the lack of support for a young british prospect is terrible.

Yes I agree he shouldnt be topping bills, but the interest will be there, promoters will do that, he got out boxed in the olympics, as soon as I saw him I knew he'd make a better pro, he has not boxed for very long considering his acheivments, having close fights with cammarelle is enough to show he is a decent fighter at the very least, if tyson fury can get to top 5 rankings in governing bodies then who knows what joshua can achieve.
