Will any US Olympian from 2012 capture a world title before the Games in 2016?

There are ten months left for the alumnae of the American team in London to do the job before their successors go for gold in Rio.

    2012 US Olympians as pros:

    Jo-Jo Diaz 17-0 (10) ✓
    Jose Ramírez 15-0 (12) ✓
    Jamel Herring 13-0 (8.) ✓
    Errol Spence Jr. 18-0 (15) ✓
    Terrell Gausha 16-0 (8.) ✓
    Marcus Browne 16-0 (12) ✓
    Michael Hunter 9-0 (6) ✓
    Dominic Breazeale 16-0 (14) ✓
    Rau'shee Warren 13-1 (4)

    * none of the US women's team from the London games (Quanitta Underwood hasn't been heard from since failing to advance past the RO16, while Marlen Esparza and Claressa Shields are still both top amateurs, still competing side by side as recently as last month's Pan-American Games) have turned pro.

    ✓ = still undefeated.

A few of them are on the verge of cracking the world rankings of this or that org. Rau'shee was first to make his bid, and first to lose in the pros, to Juan Carlos Payano two months ago.

Ramírez has still not yet fought in a 10-rounder; nor has Terrell Gausha, nor Michael Hunter.

Diaz has fought in seven, with his eighth coming up this month.

Jamel Herring just graduated from 8-rounders a month ago but will take his first real step up in class on Saturday, against Yakubu Amidu.

Spence is 5-0 (4) in 10-rounders and that was all decent opposition. He is probably closest to a title shot. Marcus Browne, however, is coming off a one-minute blitz of former titlist Gabriel Campillo and beat Cornelius White, a solid contender, just a few months before that.

Breazeale fought his second 10-rounder last week and got a gift decision over Frederick Kassi.

Spence and Browne have a decent chance, Spence may be able to take Gold, Browne might podium and that's a big might.

I'm frankly shocked that Diaz hasn't yet breached any of the major 4 org rankings' top 15...but he is WBC #22.

I think Spence will get a shot at one of the belts pretty soon.
Then it all depends who he fights for it.

That Rau'shee "O and 3" Wárren story is one of epic fail up till now. His Olympic campaigns, and his first pro stepup....

Spence will no doubt. I would pick Spence right now to beat Thurman at 147.

Diaz faces Ruben Tamayo next. Tamayo recently challenged Jesus Cuellar for the interim WBA title, so this might nudge Diaz up the rankings into a top 15 somewhere, cumulative with his recent body of solid work. :think

A title shot by summer if he stays active isn't out of the question.
