Will anybody ever beat Canelo on the scorecards again

The last 20-30 seconds of every round are critical because you get some worthless judges that can be infuenced by that sort of thing. Cue the way Leonard managed to get a debatable win over Hagler.

    Cue ... Adelaide Byrd.

Canelo lost that round clearly and it was only the last 20 seconds that gave him hope at all. Sanchez was right to insist that GGG shut him out. I agree with him.

"Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez's much-anticipated middleweight title bout made headlines for all the wrong reasons last weekend when it was controversially scored as a split draw. While most thought Golovkin had done enough to earn a decision, the judged disagreed and Kazakhstani missed out on victory for the first time in 38 professional fights."

OK but what about the first minute? Two separate 3 punch combos by Canelo, one backing Golovkin up causing him to shake his head, jabs, the flush counter left hook with 2:04 left, followed by the glancing right upper? That's a good first minute by Canelo. Certainly you can't deny that, or argue that Golovkin dominated the first minute.

Golovkin really got his best work in during the 2nd half of the round until he slipped up at the end. You can't forget about what happened in the first minute of the round. That's why it was so close. We both agree that Golovkin started asserting himself in the 2nd half of the round until that final sequence.

"Matthews: Don’t Give Up On Boxing Because GGG Got Robbed

Let’s get this out of the way right off the top: Gennady Golovkin won the fight. This is not in dispute except on two of the scorecards. Dave Moretti had it right, as did I.

Canelo Alvarez won the first three rounds and the last two. Golovkin won the middle seven. And rather unusually, there was very little doubt about who won any of the rounds."

Except for that Golovkin landed more and better punches. The blows that you're excited about mostly went over Golovkin's shoulder. It's called slipping a punch. I guess all the action up to 2:04 sailed over your head. You didn't see GGG spear Canelo's face repeatedly with the jab? No? Or how about your vaunted last 20 secs, where Golovkin uses defensive movement to make Canelo flap uselessly at thin air? Since you appreciate defence so much, that ought to get you excited.

Of course I can argue Golovkin won the first minute

Explain again how you scored Floyd / Canelo a draw?

Canelo could lose a decision but there's just no p4p talents at 160-168 that will threaten him. He has a great chin and no one at those weights can outbox him.If ward was still at 168 and prime he would beat canelo handily imo. A guy like froch if he was still prime would give him hell as well at 168.

No one at 160 could beat him(including GGG now) but there's a couple of guys at 168 that can put him in check.
