Will bad officiating happen in the Cleverly-Kovalev fight?

I've seen some absurdly bad referee decisions in the past.

The most recent was the Scott-Chisora stoppage. Let's not forget some from the past like Manfredo-Calzaghe and McKenzie-Maccarinelli.

I'm worried on Saturday we might see a repeat of the Calzaghe-Manfredo early stoppage. If Cleverly throws a flurry of feathery soft punches, will the ref jump in and stop it?

I just want to see FAIR officiating for Cleverly-Kovalev. Is this asking for too much?

My main problems in this fight is refs who favor hometown fighter and horrible judges incase it goes to the cards.

can't rule it out, I mean, British judges have that reputation they seem determined to live up to...

the ref for 2 of those fights weren't good, but the Chisora ref did his job properly. check out the rule book. you have to be upright before 10. Malik wasn't.

i don't think they'll be any problems for Saturday night. but people are going to try their damn hardest to try and find fault with what happens.

and it's obvious why they do that. ;)

It should be a little Bias for Cleverly, but I think Kovalev will stop him late so should not matter too much.

I hope the fight will be on a level playing field, but I have seen way too many home town decisions and bad refereeing. I wish there could be a "REAL" boxing commission to keep boxing fair, but I will not hold my breath. Kovalev should go for the knock out, he can't leave it to the judges. I wonder if the referee will jump in a protect Cleverly? Boxing is being destroyed by bad decisions and referees................

I watched Froch/Dirrell fight, many claimed that was a robbery, but I had Froch winning that one. All Dirrell did was fall down on the canvas, complain, hold, run, etc. I just want a level playing field. It's time the judges have to be punished for bad decisions, same with idiot referees............

I don't believe we're going to see anything as blatant as shoeshine stoppage, long/short counts or a round ending to early when Clev's in trouble, but I do expect a biased referee.

I already called this right after fight announcement.

It's the only chance Clev has really.
